Rereading this because my small teenage brain didn't realize that this book won the Nobel Prize and also bc I don't remember the story at all. I just remember the ominous feeling and sympathy I had for the MC.

I probs will never touch this again

We always talk about innovation with positivity but recent innovations have not been benefitting society or the working class but yet they r still invested in

SOOO AMAZING! I think everyone should give this book a read because it is scary how many things in politics and tenchonology that we have normalized when it shouldn't be.

"....in the end there is no international rules-based order, no universal human rights, no equal justice for all, simply fleeting arrangements of convenience in which any amount of any amount of human collateral is deemed acceptable so long as it works in the empire's interest."

"One might find what drives and absolves the state of much evil isn't the fear that not doing so will allow some terrorist to destroy the fabric of free society. But rather the evil itself is necessary for system it protects...."

Learned a new word: diaphanous. It means delicate and fine in texture making it almost transparent. I like it cuz it sounds super fancy

I can't believe that some journalists have compared foreign nations to insects in their writing and condone the policies or terrorism of Western nations because "the insect could have bitten."
I really like this book bc it just states things that are outright immoral and stupid on all sides of a political debate.

I wish I had more political knowledge or knew more about law, international policy, and different types of government to really really appreciate this book.

I love this quote sooo much:

I really liked this line and found it to be very relatable also.
