I love Peeta so freaking much. The interviews are definitely a highlight in the first book--both Katniss and Peeta get to win over the crowd (not like they already haven't) and express themselves as they look dazzling. *Cough, cough* but after the interviews is a different story...

Chapter 5 is making me recall how much I loved Cinna 💔

I find it bittersweet that, even though Gladiola doesn't want to return home, he will so Grover and the rest of the team can cash in the $200 to help them on their quest.

Also, Grover's determination to pursue his life's dream as a searcher for Pan is both admirable and heartbreaking. I'm fearful that, if he does get his search license, he'll never be seen alive again after he sets out--just like others before him

Aunty Em seems kind-hearted and hospitable so far, but I'm supsicious...

Especially when Percy mentions how when Annabeth calls her "ma'am," she stiffens as if Annabeth had done something wrong 🤔

The bus going up in flames is terrible for multiple reasons. So, obviously, Annabeth, Grover, and Percy lost their extra sets of clothes and necessities, but what about Annabeth's Yankees cap? What about the winged shoes Luke gave to Percy? (Even if he couldn't use them, Percy losing them might cause a break in their friendship).

Otherwise, our team made it out 💪.

I love Luke's good sportmanship after losing to Percy after his first sword-fighting lesson.

I also think that Percy's sudden charge of energy after pouring water on his head further hints to Poseidon being his father.

In Chapter 7, Annabeth explains that Percy must stay at Camp Half-Blood to protect himself from monsters and mortals. In turn, Percy asks Annabeth what she knows about the summer solstice. Annabeth recalls weird weather and overheard talk about something stolen (which I think is Zeus's lightning bolt). Then, Percy and Annabeth return to their cabins where Percy chats with Luke. The way I stood up and applauded when Annabeth was hinted at liking Luke. Me too, girl, me too.

In Chapter 6, Percy is basically given a tour of Camp Half-Blood by Chiron, where he learns about the different cabins representing various gods and is assigned to Cabin 11, the Hermes cabin for "undetermined" half-bloods. I can't tell you how far my jaw dropped when I figured out that Mr. Brunner/Percy's Latin teacher/Chiron IS A HORSE?!

Anyways, in chapter five, we're introduced to some new characters: Mr. Dionysius, Camp Half-Blood's director and the god of wine, and Annabeth, a camper who's been there longer than about anybody and who nursed Percy back to health.

Percy's mother better be alive in this book, or I am going to lose it.

On another note, I LOVE PERCY'S RESILIENCE!! Pasiphae's son, the Minotaur, got its payback for squeezing the life out of Sally, all because of Percy's bravery and wit--he freaking snapped of one of the Minotaur's horns and used it as a weapon to defeat him.

I can't wait to see Smelly Gabe's reaction to his 1978 Camaro 🤭🤭.
