I find it bittersweet that, even though Gladiola doesn't want to return home, he will so Grover and the rest of the team can cash in the $200 to help them on their quest.
Also, Grover's determination to pursue his life's dream as a searcher for Pan is both admirable and heartbreaking. I'm fearful that, if he does get his search license, he'll never be seen alive again after he sets out--just like others before him

The bus going up in flames is terrible for multiple reasons. So, obviously, Annabeth, Grover, and Percy lost their extra sets of clothes and necessities, but what about Annabeth's Yankees cap? What about the winged shoes Luke gave to Percy? (Even if he couldn't use them, Percy losing them might cause a break in their friendship).

I can't tell you how far my jaw dropped when I figured out that Mr. Brunner/Percy's Latin teacher/Chiron IS A HORSE?!

On another note, I LOVE PERCY'S RESILIENCE!! Pasiphae's son, the Minotaur, got its payback for squeezing the life out of Sally, all because of Percy's bravery and wit--he freaking snapped of one of the Minotaur's horns and used it as a weapon to defeat him.
I can't wait to see Smelly Gabe's reaction to his 1978 Camaro 🤭🤭.

Annabeth desperately wants to go on a quest, she is unable to until somebody special arrives. Then, the campers, satyrs, wood nymphs, and naiads all arrive at the mess hall pavilion for dinner. Percy learns that he needs to give up a portion of his plate as an offering to the gods. To which, he does, scraping off a big slice of brisket into the flames. He makes a silent plea to his father to claim him as his son, as well. The chapter ends with Percy getting situated to his new home.
