“OCD approach to hygiene” smh, it bugs me when people use OCD as a way to call themselves or others neatfreaks without actually having OCD

No, no, no!! “My mother’s sewing needles as she knitted” ????? Those are two very different things, does anyone do the bare minimum of research in knitting before including it in their book? It’s not that hard to look up whether or not crochet and knitting are interchangeable terms (they aren’t) and what knitting needles look like and are called. SMH huger pet peeve of mine as a knitter

I would say my one complaint about this book is it’s too quick. Slow it down, get more descriptive, delve into the politics and the language and social structures of the world (something the author clearly put thought in with swears based around the powers unique to a region). The current pacing isn’t bad but I would genuinely love it if this book were twice as long!

For some reason I really doubt he actually killed them. I feel like he just said that to put up a divide between them

“Everyone was incinerated, no survivors” yeah, probably a lie. I bet they are in the rebel camp

Okay, this book is surprising me I was hesitant at 1st b/c the names felt very “pick me” w/ all the unusual spellings. It still has that tone that I can’t put my finger on but only appears specifically in romantasy, I do not mind it though b/c the world feels so different than any romantasy I’ve read. It’s very fast paced & addictive. Also I really like when the swearing matches the culture of the world

😦😦😦 Honestly it’s really funny while at the same time sad how dysfunctional their marriage is, but completely unsurprising

Uh, that’s a child you just kissed you freaking weirdo. Doesn’t matter if you were transferring the antivenom. The author(s) totally could have gone with a kiss on the forehead (like a motherly kiss) and Red pricking her finger so a drop of blood could fall into child Blue’s mouth

Wait…. Is the seeker someone apart of whatever command is sending them on missions? I always thought it was blue or red (who ever wrote the letter) coming back to dispose of any evidence

As someone who does fiber arts, how can something be more crochet than weaving? 🤨 Crochet is loops that are pulled through themselves over & over & there’s only ever one “live” loop. Weaving is using a loom of some kind to stabilize a bunch of threads next to one & other & you take more thread & perpendicularly weave it through the other threads. These two things share no similarities other than thread/yarn

Definitely requires focus to follow all the metaphor but I am loving the challenge. Reading the ebook helps because I can highlight all of the words I have never heard before (dirigible, for example, is another word for airship similar to a blimp)

It took a bit to get the rhythm of the book with how lyrical the writing and descriptors are, but I am really enjoying it. There’s something very captivating about it. Red learning more about letters and living (cyborg body) especially. Also two opposing societies. Red is dystopian tech and Blue is self described as forest elf

Maybe not a permanent DNF since I bought this book but I currently have no interest in reading it. I still can’t get over the god daughter (or whatever she is) is named sugar 🥴

You know what? it is so unfunny how uninterested I am in this book that I am not going to force myself to read it. I know its because its a contemporary romance. The plot always feels nonexistent in this genre of books and its just not for me. DNF it is

Previously it was crochet. Is this just the author trying to illustrate Natalie didn’t really notice what her mother was doing or do they really not know the difference? As a knitter (and crocheter) I always wonder this whenever I come across fiber arts mentions in books

This quote: “I was brought into this world w/ the explicit purpose of eventually bringing other lives into this world, like a never-ending baton pass, an infinite replay of God’s glory.” How fucked up is it that this is what patriarchy & religion have reduced women & their lives to?
