I would like a little more detail with dates and stuff but it’s eye opening learning about things that weren’t taught it the very white washed, evangelical books I was given for history growing up. Like Bacon’s Rebellion? Never heard of it. And I only knew about the pilgrims, I didn’t know about the Virginians who came here for profit and exploitation

Very fairytale and simplistic, but promising. I really hope it lives up to what everyone has described! I NEED to get out of my reading slump

Probably not a bad book but it’s just not keeping my interest enough and I really need a 5 star book right now to get out of this 3 week reading slump 🫠 May come back to it later, we’ll see

Promising, I think? Time travel stories are very easy to be hit or miss. I get the gist of the world they are in but at first it seemed like a completely different planet. I think the writing mostly flows well so far. Hopefully this will be the book to get me out of my 3 week reading slump 🤞

I like how this series has turned into robot exploring the galaxy and begrudgingly helping people along the way 😂

Ahh, Peri (Perihelion) is Art. I figured but it’s nice to have confirmation. Same problem with the I can’t picture any of the characters that I had with the first book

Yep, I am really going to enjoy this series! Being 150 ish pages each really helps with how daunting it is to commit to 8 books (I really prefer to read any series all in one shot so I don’t have to reread books to remind myself of their contents)

I think no is a good stopping point so I don’t get so freaked out I can’t sleep 😅 the concept of territory and cleaning is very interesting, I feel like it’s barely used apart from vampires. Curious to see where this goes because despite having to reread sentences frequently (due to the vague, airy nature that fits the book), the cannibalism, and the gore I am really enjoying this book

Interesting…elemental magic. Can the mysterious beings control air as well if she manipulate Fire and Water? Or is her falling through the ground control over air or earth so she hasn’t an affinity for 3 or even all 4?

So weird and gross with the cannibalism but the concept of some creature with influence like that is so incredibly intriguing.

Finally back in a headspace where I can read and I forgot how much I was enjoying this book

What on earth is going on?? I don’t ask this in a bad way, this is the first time I have felt genuinely, completely stumped by a book. I feel consumed by this books unique brand of madness and I love it (even though I am scared at the same time. Seriously a bad idea to read it late at night, so creepy)

Reading this book at night is a bad idea.

Horrifying, unsettling, weird, captivating and so much more…but somehow none of that is in a bad way. I am really enjoying this book and how the authors way with words makes you feel everything. So many questions I cannot wait to get answers to (like what is up with that mysterious light? Is it some otherworldly thing that summoned creatures masquerading as the saints?)

Been a bit since I have read an epic fantasy trilogy, reading this series alongside my dad. First impression is overwhelm because of Norse influences with the names. also I don’t know how much magic, if any, is in this world so I feel a little unsteady. Hopefully improved with time once I get my sea legs so to speak. John Gwyne is a highly praised author and I really want to love his books

I wish I could stay up until 4 am but alas, sleep is necessary to function

Picked this book back up after a small reading slump caused by a bunch of speed reading to not have to go through more long waits on Libby and I am so excited about finishing this book. Really enjoying the prose and this take on the classic story

I do like that this is going the route of the original tale vs disneys version
