I really love when one of the gods just plucks their favorite guy from the battlefield cuz he’s about to die. That’s really sweet

I want to die right here and now, because I could not save my slaughtered friend. He died so very far from home. He needed me to help him and protect him. And I did not go back to my dear country, nor did I save Patroclus.

He is never ill. But he is his mother’s son. Her eyes were his, and she had that forehead that I think so beautiful, and he will not think it worth while to live. It was always touch and go. He will live; but he will not think it worth while to live. He will never think anything worth while.

She only felt that the candle would burn better, the packing go easier, the world be happier, if she could give and receive some human love.

Do you suppose there’s any difference between spring in nature and spring in man? But there we go, praising the one and condemning the other as improper, ashamed that the same laws work eternally through both.

The kingdom of music is not the kingdom of this world; it will accept those whom breeding and intellect and culture have alike rejected. My book accidentally got all torn up and I’m sad about it. This is my third Jane Austen book. I read Pride and Prejudice a couple years ago and Emma last year. So far I’m not as wrapped up in these characters as I was with Emma but I’m starting to get invested.

For a wonderful physical tie binds the parents to the children; and—by some strange, irony— it does not bind us children to our parents. For if it did, if we could answer their love not with gratitude but with equal love, life would lose much of its pathos and much of its squalor, and we might be wonderfully happy.
