I read “the essay.” “One must imagine Sisyphus happy” is the famous ending. I honestly prefer another essay- Absurd creation. I liked it a lot, it just reminded me of things I’ve thought about for myself. With a creative career you inevitably think of these things and what it means to be an artist. It’s heavy but really insightful

Rereading myth of Sisyphus + other essays in this edition are included! I want to also reread l’étranger because it has been a while and I read the plague last year

I was brought to this by Liszt’s composition based on this book “Vallée d’Obermann.” A story that takes place in the Jura canton where I will be visiting tomorrow for a few days. Thought it would be quite beautiful

when I started reading this I noticed that the authors need and will to set aside ego is entirely based on desire. Not does he want to rid himself of ego for the sake of peace or to prioritize others, but rather to be externally successful or for greater monetary gain (which in my opinion, is a bit egotistical because the goal is power and material accomplishment). Hopefully this changes?

Reading a book on Buddhism so I can do the opposite and be a worse person more effectively 😭🙏🙏‼️‼️

I don’t normally write some thoughts about a book until I’ve finished, but this book is a harsh reminder of many things.

The lack of emotion from Eichmann is incredibly scary, the whole ordinariness of his livelihood is very uncomfortable knowing about his work.

I think this is a book people have to remember and so many need to read - an entire NATION of sadists were responsible for the tragedies that occured

A good tension between two ideas - Narziß represents discipline and goldmund represents artistic freedom oh my goodness.
