Catherine is starting The Stardance Trilogy (#1-3)
I really tried to read this book. My father in law gave me a thrifted, signed first edition (“To Pam”) with a really sweet intention about how wonderful and special he found it. So I tried.

For like a year.

And it is AWFUL. So dull. So difficult to care about. So performative male writing about dance and the female experience. I just can’t. So I am giving up.

Life is too short to read dull books!

Catherine is starting The Bright Sword
I’m struggling to care about this book. It’s all man stuff - no female characters even though there certainly would be some around. Just more man-centric hero worship. A devil’s advocate could say that is because that was the way Arthurian legends were classically told, about the knights, not the ladies; or that it’s for a specific audience. Yeah, fine, I guess that audience isn’t me. Doubt I will finish

Catherine is starting A Spindle Splintered (Fractured Fables, #1)
Okay I changed my mind. Couldn’t sleep so picked it up in the middle of the night and now I am enjoying it. Finding once again that Harrow is clever, funny and very well read.

This book is awesome. Really useful and illuminating. I am pausing it for now to share at work but look forward to picking it back up.

Catherine is starting Winter Swimming: The Nordic Way Towards a Healthier and Happier Life
This book is at times preachy, at times repetitive, and at times very informative. I love the author’s enthusiasm for the subject but question if we need a whole book on the topic. It reads like a dissertation fleshed out into a book.

Catherine is starting Some Remarks: Essays and Other Writing – A Brilliant Collection on Science and Technology from Newton to Star Wars
Finding it hard to care about these essays, despite this being one of my favorite authors. Some are topics that are too deeply nerdy even for me, and some of it is a little too snooty for me. I will probably skim through to the end for the sake of completeness.
