Right off the bat, I don’t appreciate how Paul Miller characterizes men’s problem towards women is that they’re overly demanding. Women are expecting the same effort and respect from her male counterparts when she must give up her body, her career, and her leisure bearing his child and maintaining the household—I’m not supporting traditional roles, but this is what women have been expected to do.

Emilie is such a relatable character: her struggle with self-expression; her need for logic, order, and clarity; and her complex relationship with her parents. I love that she’s also a driven student with actual goals apart from a relationship.
