I tried to read something else but realized I just want Fred the vampire accountant.

Idk, this series is just my type of cozy fantasy.

I have complicated feelings about this book. I think it would have benefited from just 10% more info dumping about the world. Sometimes there’s a pretty nuanced difference between creating mystery/intrigue and confusing the reader in a bad way, and Asunder really toes the line for me.

I think this is maybe the second book I’ve read where the MC is a villain?

Also, fairy tale retelling do definitely fall into the same mehhh category as Greek retellings for me, but I’ve actually never read The Goose Girl, so I think I’ve enjoyed this more because of my ignorance.

Annoyed that GoodReads is such a dinosaur that I had to nuke and recreate my 16 in 2026 list because all the books got moved to read when I made the list non-exclusive. Also annoyed that I had to Google how to make a status update on a computer. Like what the frick.

This is the most wholesome book of the series so far!

I’m sorry but what the fuck. Didn’t see that coming.

This narrator is really bad at accents and has a lot of pregnant pauses in the middle of sentences.

In terms of weirdness, I’d say this book is in the same realm as The Vegetarian, so if you didn’t like that book you won’t like this one either.

So far I like this way more than Convenience Store Woman.

I 100% should have DNF’ed this book ages ago but I didn’t want to start a new book on the last day of the year, for some unknown stupid reason. Bumped the audio speed to 2.25x.

MMC’s chapters are the worst. The narrator is too monotone for me, but the substance of his storyline is both boring and unoriginal.

First duet audiobook I’ve ever listened to and I’m not sure I’m a fan?

Okay but is that Scott Brick narrating some of the eye-witness quotes??? It’s really bothering me, I know that voice!

Am bored. Tbh nothing remotely interesting happened until about the 30% mark.

It’s not lost on me that this is the third book I’ve read this month that portrays inappropriate teacher-student relationships. Very unintentional coincidence.

I can’t think of a single person that I would recommend this book to, not because it’s “bad”, but because it’s fucked up. Not sure what that says about me though…

Also, fantastic narrator.
