How are we not even halfway through this book? (This is some delicious torture.)

I’m about to DNF this book. Let me first say, this book is absolutely not in any genre I normally read. So keep that in mind.

This is probably the slowest paced book I’ve ever read, and I’ve read Lord of the Rings. Also, it’s very… BS masculine. There is very little introspection and seems mostly to be a statement of facts and goings on.

I last read this, probably, around 1998ish. It’s interesting to read it now with an adult’s concept of things.

So far, the FMC isn’t super likable. It’s a grumpy/sunshine trope and I think she’s supposed to be grumpy. Which… is odd but also, she’s imperious and rude.

Also, this narrator is kind of performative, rather than intimate or relatable.

I’m… not digging the narrator so far. 😬

Okay. It’s definitely grown on me.

I’m interested in the story but find myself anxious with the busy-body mom who is just trying to help and means well but is A LOT.

I think this is why I normally read fantasy. But, pushing on…

Favourite book in the series!!!

Upon every read of this book? It never ceases to amaze me how RELEVANT this book STILL is. Obviously not the dinosaur aspect but rather the ethical implications in the development of technologies. 🤯

I do want to enjoy this book. But so far I’ve kind of had to push through it.

Also, it switches from first person to third person depending on whose “perspective” it’s from. It’s jarring.

This is such a heartbreaking and yet fascinating look into Harry’s formative years following the passing of his mother.

Mental health care is important, people. (No judgement on him. He was a kid. But it’s ridiculous that with all the people around him no one noticed he would have benefitted from grief Counselling)

I have a prediction.

Oohhhh. NOW I get the whole spy agency/book thing.

I just wish those little interludes were marked so that once some light was shed on them that I could go back and read them easily without having to flip through a bunch of pages to find them.

Digging this book so far. Really loving the queerness of it and how all four of the MCs are just queer friends in college turned found family.

Trying not to worry that all the latest reviews of this book are lukewarm.

I like the individual chapters but so far am finding the brief “interludes” from (I assume) the book Ian is reading to be odd. Hopefully those pan out.

I don’t know why I keep waiting for this to get better. She’s going to go flirt with a dude SPECIFICALLY to piss another guy off. I’m putting this one down for a while.

The levels of stupidity are too much.

I WANT to enjoy this book. I really do. It’s an omnibus and I have 43 hours left of this book I already purchased.

But the levels of petty and childish antics and drama are A LOT.

Accusing someone of something with absolutely no evidence at all?

Petty revenge?

Holding someone else’s hand to make someone else jealous?

This is not college. Idk how much longer I can hang in.

What is she doing. ::facepalm::

This is definitely better written than book 3, but it is slow going.

I’m losing count at the amount of times of thrown up my hands and made a face at my stereo at happenings.

For someone concerned about battery, she’s certainly willing to damage private property.

I don’t recall being this stupid in college. Stupid, sure, but this is high school levels of idiocy.

The amount of peer pressure and drama are very high school. 😕

This is very reminiscent of that other Magic series with that kid in the glasses and scar? I’m sure this author hates the comparison, but I’m enjoying it!

While I am, on the whole, enjoying the story, I feel like this book just isn’t as well written as the others. The relationship development between the FMC and MMC seems rushed and a little forced, to me.

There is mention of a “toy tower” (no capitalization in the text) and while it’s possible that I missed it, I don’t recall mention of it before. Am I just supposed to know what that means? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
