Thank GOD they’re finally talking to one another

I’ve been meaning to start this classic for awhile. I’m definitely on an Orwell trip right now… how topical!

Started this awhile back but was on a geography kick recently… especially with how the world has been. Gotta find reassurance somewhere! Even if this book has been dated due to current events since its publishing in 2015

I’ve missed the feeling of staying up late because you’re reading a book you just can’t put down!

Interesting start! I’m curious as to how it’s going to hold up against his previous works but i’m hooked!

Boom 🌋

I love how seamlessly Tolkien weaves the narratives of characters across great distances that are still related. Having moments where we are with Frodo and Sam but get a timestamp or glimpse into the happenings in Gondor really grounds the reader in the progression of time in the story. This can be a big issue when you change POV but Tolkien does a wonderful job.

Gondor is besieged 😭😭 what hope remains to the free peoples of Middle Earth 😖☹️😔

Off to an insane start already. If it wouldn’t get copyright stricken this book should’ve been named Haymitch’s Series of Unfortunate Events.

Shaping up to be a fine addition to Collins’s catalog. I love the way she has intwined both past and future events into this book that falls right in the middle.

Two plane rides later and now Snow is in a wee bit of a predicament. The fact that he’s visiting the Seam is such an amazing tie in to the other books. He’s really been haunted for 65 years

Having seen the movie already I am loving this glimpse into the internal monologue of Snow. Seeing how he comes to his conclusions about his decisions makes the reader understand his true motivations. There is no love for Lucy Gray only possessiveness of something he feels entitled to.

With so many perspectives and things occurring it’s shocking to see a timestamp every so often and be reminded that only a few hours of chaos had transpired. This book is making me appreciate many of the seemingly complex systems of unified command in disasters. it’s much better to have everyone speaking the same terminology.

A fascinating what to explore the narrative events of one singular place during katrina. highlighted but the history of the hospital that demonstrated a the flaws that were never addressed

Someone who trusted a dude named Grima Wormtongue did it to himself.

There is no curse in Elvish, Entish, or the tongues of Men bad enough for such treachery. Down with Saruman! To Isengard!

A mysterious figure in the night with cloak and hat. All while our trios steeds disappear? How odd indeed.

And so is the end of Uglúk of Isengard and Grishnákh of Lugbúrz.

I love the style that Weir writes in, he’s constantly jumping from past to present and back, as a mode of memory for our main character and the reader as we are placed in the same position of amnesia. this is such a fun sci fi novel!
