This book suffers from the same problem as a book it even references, Atlas Shrugged. Why write a simple article detailing your political beliefs when you can write a novel filled with strawmen?

Being back with the Phoenix Inn gang is so great ... and also Quick Ben and Kalam. Just the best. Quick Ben v. Shadowthrone is one of the highlights of the series, almost as good as Quick Ben v. Bauchelain.

Third read, gets better every time

This has been absolute heaven. I'm reading this to my kids and they are eating it up. We're discussing events, talking about theories (it's so hard to keep my mouth shut), and most importantly, they're pleading to read it each night! Heaven I tell ya!

How is this thousand-page long book so hard to put down? It's insane, it's unnatural, it's so hard to get sleep!

War is hell but full of opportunities - seems to be a theme in the book, this is not the first time that line was used.

It is so good to be back in the First Law world. So many great quotes already, so many great characters, I just love Abercrombie's style so much

This one's a bit more disjointed than The Player of Games, but still really enjoying it. The Culture is so fascinating and seeing them from their enemies' perspectives is unique

Really interesting story within story structure this time. Not his typical, more like story alongside story. I'm completely drawn in with both so whatever it is, it's working

I have to say I love how much Stephen King still loves writing. Not only by having multiple books out a year while he's in his seventies, but his pure joy is apparent & having this non-writer experience it & start to realize how powerful it is.
