Simone is a freak weirdo. He knows and i think he’ll be the one to expose her. She will get fired for sure. Charley is such a dork just bc she swears she’s special like girl relax no one is out to get u.

I can relate to Alice and her passion for her discipline. I think learning and advancing in science is beautiful because it brings you closer to the truth and in a way closer to god.

Action. Law is definitely relatable to academics and extreme version of a successful student who is too into the prestigious academic world, has no life outside of it, is overly paranoid, delusional, and competitive. She is making herself go crazy. Good hook on the apples

I wonder how much of mirror Alice is to Rebecca. Alice is very desperate to have this illusion of what she believes what a successful life looks like. but behind the scenes she is facing a lot of obstacles that impact her mental health while she convinces herself its not a big deal. How many smart people deal with this? What are the consequences of this mentality?

MC has a horrible upbringing and therefore is horrible. Her goal is not to be happy. It is not to feel.

Sometimes she’s so direct with what she’s experiencing that it’s slightly unsettling and sometimes she recalls a dark memory with emotions that contrasts who she currently is. She cannot feel and maybe it’s because she’s done enough feeling.

The main character and her friend are not good for each other and the main character has serious relationship issues. She’s real asf tho

The book is so warm and comforting. The characters are so relatable and it feels easier to appreciate the smaller things

this book if frustrating to read bc its also unclear in dialogue. theres times where characters speaks back to back and the author doesn't distinguish who said what. its annoying keeping up with that much unclarity. in this scene ralph calls a meeting that the island is not being kept well and then they argue about a beast existing. ralph wants to give up being chief and jack may be a worse leader.

im not crazy into the writing style. its def old and hard to engage with. It seems like every senetence that is not dialoge is a metaphor. I dont like this because i think it cheapens the use of metaphors. like if everything is a metaphor then nothing really stands out or has sig meaning. I am getting to a good part tho. there is tension btw the 2 leaders Ralph and Jack. I wonder if theyll end up killing each other.

I like the way its paced. jumps from scene to scene. more entertaining and it reflects the thinking patterns of gilda.
