I continue to see why Ryan Gosling was cast for the movie adaptation!

The historical meet-cute on page 120 was the highlight of today's reading

Okay I think I have it figured out now.

Huh, learned something new today (or relearned something I'd learned but forgotten, who knows)

Kind of feels like a Defense Lawyer Noir set just far enough in the future that the technology advancements feel just plausible enough to shrug them off.

It takes some nerve to act the way Kou has and then say "I'm not being mean to you" without any kind of apology

"But this isn't some geriatric fairy tale where everything gets magically fixed at the end."

I have a feeling it is and will be!

I don't feel like Vera adds anything to the story besides being an unneeded source of additional conflict.

It's been a long time since I've read anything written in second person. Very fun read so far, though after reading House of Leaves the footnotes and "Further Reading" sections make my eye twitch 😆
