people seem to be upset that this book isn’t a sexed-up gay romance like the show apparently is. I honestly think the way the book is regarding this is representative of the times. It’s the 50s in cold-war america. Obviously you can’t have an outward gay relationship. It’s hidden within the nooks and crannies of everyday affairs— like in the book how it’s short, concise, and inbetween political scenes
