honestly this is kinda fun

the chapter where dovey has a conversation with agatha about beauty and agatha finally letting herself believe she's beautiful? i loved that, that was genuinely so sweet

my GOD. actually, i hated sophie so much these last chapters, no wonder she's on the evil course and agatha is on good, which, this was already hinted at in the beginning, but the development of this corruption arc of sophie? really well done, the same way the various tackled themes on gender roles were handled very well, which i didn't expect for a middle grade book, in general, this is a very mature story for a kid

i expected this to be kind of like wicked the musical, and sophie and agatha absolutely do hold a resemblance to glinda and elphaba, but this reminds me more of ever after high, which i loved that show as a kid, so i genuinely like how this book feels like a hybrid of those two things

this is so sily and fun actually

i'm honestly forgetting half of the plot because i cannot take any of this seriously anymore, i'm still not over their last slam, or rather, bang poetry session

okay nvm seth seems to be genuinely keeping rose safe (for now at least) and, fuck, i forgot there were no references to toto yet until now, which, here it's the name of the fucking boat where nessa was killed, i don't know if i find that ridiculous or actually kinda fitting

honestly... why were these few chapters actually pretty good? like, the emotional stakes are there, the two main leads are developing as characters and their relationship... they're still dramatic caricatures in a funny way but.. i don't know, i'm curious to see how this goes, how they both resolve their traumas and grief

honestly... i like eveline's and nick's dynamic, is nick an absolute annoying character? absolutely, is eveline overly edgy? definitely, but i don't know, somehow two minuses make a plus

i get the whole concept of nick lacking a heart cause he's the tinman but my god why does his cock have to jerk ALL THE TIME

this shit is so plainly written to where i can read this very quickly with my brain turned off and so i thought "man, this reads like fanfiction" and didn't at first realize this literally IS fanfiction... like, even if sex scenes don't happen every second (and thank god for that) you can tell this was written for pure entertainment, which, ISN'T bad but.. i don't know man, i kinda wanna think about things deeper...

i'm gonna be honest... i'm bored, like.. i guess i like the wizard of oz references, and there is like an actual plot in this that in theory should be intriguing but.... i don't know, i hope it gets better

jesus christ this book, it's so satisfying to see these characters work their stuff out and redeem themselves, i love taryn's and cardan's transformations the most. taryn went from antagonizing jude to finally choosing her and going from a girl who follows orders to actually giving orders. cardan goes from someone who puts on a mask to be liked to taking it off and letting himself be liked for who he actually is.

OH WAIT NEVERMIND MADOC IS NOT DEAD, which, yeah would be weird as fuck because who else would be the main antagonist for this book
