This is a fever dream akin to House of Leaves, I kind of love it.

Going back to my roots to claw my way out of a reading slump. Save me queer perspectives and analysis of horror, save me.

It is getting so hard to not dnf this. 300 pages in and all that's really happened is that one guy definitely has Stockholm Syndrome but we aren't gonna talk about it ig! If I had to pick between being locked in a room with Stalker Fish Guy or Crazy Serial Killer, I'd actually pick the Serial Killer at this point he is somehow less insane.

We are not comparing a woman giving birth to a guy killing people right? Right?

Took you getting your fingers cut off to realize that maybe ALL intrusive thought caused by OCD should not listened to implicitly. "Hard to tell who's who in the photo" but you correctly described the two members of the family you have met?? This moment was clearly put in here so that we as readers know that the author likes the Saw Franchise (which is obvious from the. everything about this book) since we get descriptions of costumes that fit Amanda, Adam, and Lawrence. Side note: Why are the brothers dressed up as Adam and Lawrence??????????

Love that we're playing with zoophagy in this novel, however it has always been the one part of Dracula that grossed me out so I know I'm in for it.

Nobody understands how badly I want to like. consume this book, Reading it is not enough I need it between my teeth. It makes me feel so vulnerable in unexpected ways, Andrew's quiet violence gives the narration such a raw feeling. Body horror intertwined with forest and fairy-tale elements is something I find vastly underrated so to see it so well done is incredibly refreshing.

All takes on the Brides of Dracula which center the Brides within the narrative are correct, therefore I am excited for this one.

If I hit 25% and I still cannot get into this, it'll be a dnf. Sims your prose is just so... difficult to pick through at times and it makes my eyes hurt.

Unironically went out and bought this book already (it was so pretty AND on sale how could I not) because I know this is an annotate reread already.

I think Thomas should listen to post-hardcore, it would make him worse but there's a beauty in that. Andrew would be a third wave emo fan and I think this would give him another bout of anxiety in relation to music subgenre based conversation.

I can appreciate that every character in this book has something in their lives that prevents them from full assimilation with the rapid advancement of capitalism whether or not they are in privileged positions. I don't exactly know how I feel about having so many perspectives in one title though, it's so overwhelming to constantly pivot from one character to the next. It feels more like an anthology.

It would feel soooo good to punch a mirror probably.

It is crazy that I have almost cried already just listening to descriptors of Thomas and getting flashbacks. Oh how I will be wrecked.

Envy of the homeless is CRAZY, I get we are showing a flawed character's need for escapism but envy over "the simplicity of it, wandering the streets, beholden to none" is making my skin CRAWL. Dude what are you thinking.

This book does in fact remind me of the play "Tracks" which every high schooler must watch or participate in at least once in their lives. If it ends up having a similar plot, I will be so incredibly disappointed.

I'm not that far in but Sims is a bit difficult to... digest at times?? It may genuinely be because of my unfamiliarity with the setting? I'm really not sure what it is that it causing me to struggle so much.

I think a familiarity with London would serve me well with reading this book. Unfortunately, this is something I don't have outside of other fictional works (including The Magnus Archives) so the weird behavior described immediately fits into an average Tuesday in London to me.
