I chose this book because I am enthralled with the reconstruction and civil war times. This book is about the death of abe lincoln and the manhunt of jeff davis. It is a good insight on what happened to the two leaders of the bloodiest war to date.

Whup, it has a negative connotation and it feels like beating to the reader. Hijinx also is negative and usually means like up to no good. finnaly, democracy has a positive connotation and shows the fight for freedome

the style is somewhat informal with lots of slange and dialouge but still informational. the tone is formal. There is not much humor or satire. he uses harsh language to show the reader the times. not many metaphors

The beginning of the book hooked me with a sudden act of violence that wasn't really explained thoroughly, and it grabbed me right away

I chose this book because it shows a period of time where America is working towards a fairer democracy and a more equal playing field for everyone.

I think I would side with Nina on this. I know its hard knowing you'll lose the love of your life but that shouldn't stop you from living them with what time is left.

The short stringers are a minority group that needs to fight for their rights because they are humans just like the rest of us.

Muara has a short string and is scared, but she doesn't want to go to the support group because it's admitting defeat. Amie doesn't seem to be affected by the strings at all.

At the beginning of this book, we see Micheal. He is a teenage Irish boy who lives in Germany. He is a spy for the allies and is currently in the Hitler Youth.

The words I think impacted the story were; zippo, flamethrower, silence, huge, and scary. These words all give off the sense of dread that Mo is feeling when he steps onto this new, bigger ship after getting off his break from the military.

I the part of the book I just read Mo is on his way back to sea. He is very worried about what will happen but happy he gets to see his guys again. He was enjoying his visit home but had to leave eventually

In my book, right now, Mo's ship is under attack. He's scared, but he is also working hard to man his position and not give in. he's worried his friends are dead, but he has no time to think about that as he's firing his weapons.

Mo would be a pineapple. on the outside he seems really tough and rugged but he very soft and sweet on the inside.

I think Mo would pick the candle poem. This is because he puts on a brave fac everyday but on the inside he is very scared and missing his friends and home,

In my book, Mo is currently at home after a suicide on his ship. He is enjoying his time but is scared to go back after feeling this comfort of home.

the word I found interesting was faraway. The definition if a distance in space or time. Mo uses this word when thinking about his past, his friends, or his future.

The lesson I have learned in my book is that friendship is one of the most important things in life. They all joined the military not because they wanted to but to secure their friendship.
