There’s a lord commander who’s dripped out ready for war and he brings his pet thylacine around with him. Now ordinarily that wouldn’t be too surprising but in a later book one of the smartest humans in the setting claims that the tail of a common monkey was actually a stinger. It’s not a complaint by any means I just think it’s silly.

Every time Johnathan Keeble overtly exclaims “BOOOUUM” in a book he’s reading I can feel a small portion of my brain wither and die. Great book so far though

I think it’s really funny that out of the 18* brothers, none of them really wanted to be warmaster and a rebellion would’ve happened regardless of who was chosen. Would the other rebellions be as bad as the heresy? Probably not but it definitely would’ve been bad. If Bobby G was made warmaster I guarantee a few legions would rebel from all the new rules they’d have to deal with.

Big E should’ve made one of his autistic sons the warmaster instead of the only normal guy he had on hand.

To really appreciate the scale of how awful things have become you have to remember it took the Emperor nearly 1,000* years to take control of Terra during the unification wars. Then with aid of his 18* Demi-god sons and their respective legions the great crusade conquered almost the entire known galaxy in 250 years. The Heresy took 7* years. Billions are dead, whole worlds are gone and the scouring has just begun.

This might be the biggest scientific blunder of the entire series.

Somewhat off topic from the book but I can’t stop thinking about that infamous picture of the mountain of buffalo skulls. If you haven’t seen it I recommend you do, to me it’s the embodiment of extinction.
