I love that Viola Davis is narrating this novel. She captures the characters' voices so well that I can see the story developing as I'm listening. Phenomenal job. As for the novel, I appreciate its structure. So far, it is split between the characters, so you can hear how the story plays out through them.

Baldwin is so intentional with the language he uses to describe events, and characters, especially. It helps create a movie in my head as I’m reading.
