Ughhhhh. I think this is a 2 star book for me. Books like this make me wonder if something is wrong with my brain chemistry. Like am I supposed to have a stronger reaction?? I was supposed to be motivated, no?
There were no big stories outside of the ones she gave at the conference so maybe it was a matter of redundancy being the issue? Idk idk idkkkkk. At this point, I’m just grateful to have finished a book.

Um. Hmm. Bought this book after hearing Hoda speak at the PA Women’s Conference last year. Her segment felt very “Be Ready When the Luck Happens” by Ina Garten which is one of my favorites. Unfortunately, I’m a bit underwhelmed but it’s an easy read so I’m not annoyed. There’re some big things I’m trying to figure out right now yet this book isn’t striking anything in me. Maybe it’s me? 🚬🫩

Finished this weeks ago. I was total g throughout the entire read until the last chapter. It messed me up.

BAD! Baddddddddddddddddd! I kept rereading it and crying. Honestly, I’ve delayed marking the book complete until I could articulate why. But I can’t. I only know the “why” is more than the topic of “grief” itself.

Sunja has suffered SO much

Baby, the end of this book is moving a lil too fast for me. I get the family is now spanning multiple generations so we can’t get into the details of everyone’s life nor will everyone’s story wrap up. But I don’t know. It’s feeling hollow and sad

368 - girl what AM I READING RIGHT NOW?! Shoulda finished this book in June 👀. The fact that Hansu clocked tea, I figured this was happening for a while. The switch ups in this book are nuts. It’ll read incredibly mild for 10 chapters straight then switch to X-rated on a dime! Like hello?!

I’m still reading but it be blowing my mind when I’m reading and they start cussing outta nowhere 😂. Also, Noa needs to GROW UP. He’s more self righteous and impulsive than I thought. At the same time, it’s his first processing some big emotions/life moments. But to sit on the decision for a month and still decide to overreact?! Bonkers.

I gotta stop writing these when I’m sleepy. Just be saying anything. Anywho, idk wtf Haruki is on. Not right now broski lol

INSANE whiplash. I read 30 more pages and now there’s a lump in my throat. I don’t why I keep hoping for life to be beautiful for them. I would even settle for boring.

Jokes aside, I’ve been trudging through this book, but imma get there. No profound thoughts yet other than I not built to live the life they’re living🤷🏽‍♀️

Sunja, sister….I mean, he didn’t even have finesse. He said what do you think about when you’re washing clothes. She answered, honestly and beautifully, and he said yeah whatever let’s get down to business. Sister gave the cookie up without a fight 🫩

BUT, he knew she was ignorant (not meant to be demeaning but it’s true) and took advantage of that. And for that, he should be stoned🙂‍↕️

I have a lot of thoughts about this book. Most of which need to be discussed with a professional therapist. So I will refrain. I will note that I am INCREDIBLY to learn that Gene/Val is still alive. Therefore, I must deduct a star.

The way she built up the same hope in me that she probably felt, only for it to have never been genuine … feels awful. I was almost envious of her reconciliation.

I am STILL praying on her father and Shawn’s downfall. Shawn is a literal threat to society, but more specifically to literally ANY WOMAN.

I can not believe this… 🫩

IT’S HAPPENING!! I’m SO excitedddd!

This book is hard to read cause I woulda k*lled Shawn if I were Tara. And I’m deadass serious. Book would’ve been written AFTER I got out of jail. And all the “n-er” shit literally made my jaw drop and I had to stop reading for a bit. I can’t believe I hate HIM more than the dad. And and and everybody in the house acting like they don’t see/hear the abuse. I would’ve sprayed the ENTIRE BLOCK!

Maybe one day I will get out of this hole I’m in and care about things I used to find fun, like reading. Too dark? It’s a good book I swear, just in a reading slump.

Anyways, apparently I need one of the sons to ALSO die cause he’s a menace and incredibly abusive. Shocker😑. I’m constantly gagged by how good of a memoir it is cause I read some nonsense last year and vowed against them.

THEY GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT DOING THE SAME SHIT. I can’t. I can’t. I can’t. I can’t. “I’m not driving any faster than angels can fly”……….. this man constantly puts people’s lives in danger, takes ZERO accountability, and absolves himself from responsibility by calling on God. What a joke.

I need Gene to die. Surprisingly, the book is more interesting than I thought it would be. But it’s really gonna eat when Gene dies a slow painful death 😘 This man forced his daughter in the bin of a scrap truck, LIFTS THE BIN FULLY, she gets cut and falls TEN FEET, she narrowly misses being ground up like sausage, and his response is basically “damn that’s crazy, God will heal you.” HE NEEDS TO BE STONED!

The words sureeeee are smallll. I think this was the book selected for my class in university, so this book has been on my radar since then. I only read a single chapter before bed so nothing to say yet.

“Atmosphere, a love story.” A WHAT?! I don’t know what this book is about. Walking in blind because it’s a book club pick. Sometimes Reid has childish writing but I guess I should be used to it now that I’ve been forced to read a third book of hers.

Wait, is this book also a “big gay blanket” 👀

Grief is universal and unavoidable, so this book will resonate with most. The writing style almost forces the reader to reflect in the same way the author does which made for a heavy experience at times. However, there are no overarching messages or advice, but that’s the point and it works well. It helps keep the book light in a way.

I just read over 40% in one day so I am a bit embarrassed that it’s taken me so long to make good progress. Life been lifing tho. Again, no real comments on the book, at least not any that don’t need to be discussed with a therapist first 🫠

It’s kinda crazy to say, but I have nothing to say about this book so far. It’s not bad at all, there’s just no key takeaways and given the nature of the book, I don’t think there will be any. 🤷🏽‍♀️

LOVING THE PACE! Such a refreshing change after my last book!
