Jared Foster and Banner Morales… bigger Latina girl and privileged white boy. It was a good read. I liked Banner’s character and the moral challenge Jared presented for her with Zo. The storyline and the real-life characterization of a “fat” girl managing her weight in adulthood, and how you never really get over the first harmful words about your body were 👍🏾

Iris and August… Caleb was the WORST! At one point I was near tears with one of his attacks on Iris. Having a cousin like Lotus, *claps* and “Hopscotch” my goodness. This was traumatic but great storytelling. The story isn’t always so black and white when it comes to domestic violence victims. Especially with people who have money to manipulate others to be their puppets. L

Max’s story was heartbreaking. But very tastefully done by the author, for such a topic. I loved Luke’s energy and his ability to bring Max out from the dark cloud of trauma. Marcos was a great friend. And I loved the brief overlap with Carter and Zeke!

Carter and Zeke were cute! Carter’s character arc and watching him come alive with having someone genuinely care about him was enjoyable. Those earned smiles and laughs and how they made Zeke feel - gah! Fun read.

Verity’s story pulled me in. Experiencing the states of her bipolar disorder from her POV were interesting and set me on a path to research more about this mental illness. I believe there are more people in my life likely undiagnosed as a result of reading this book. Monk’s journey and the decade+ of heartbreak all from a lack of knowing… wow! What a read!

I’m actually glad I read the books out of order and saved this one for last. Outside of Ilya and Shane’s story, this one may have been my favorite. Poor Scott. I can only imagine the terror he felt being a trailblazer about his sexuality in an industry that celebrates homophobia. The scenes where he would attempt to get out of his comfort zone but then spooked easily, poor guy!

Troy’s growth was a fun read. Harris is a gem.

Kingfisher’s mom for the win!!!
