Finally returning to the point after some long, self-indulgent diversions.

Chapter "Am I a Monster?" is a lot of navel-gazing.
Book is digressing from its stated promise/goal of addressing the ethics of enjoying art made by canceled artists.
The author is injecting so much memoir at this point, that it's hard to see how all this connects to the book's purpose.

Loving it so far.
Crazy story of a pot-crowing California throuple coming up against a Mexican cartel.
Writing style is gonzo and very funny. Captures the late aughts in a unique way.
Hard to put down.

Good discussion so far of "separating the art from the artist."

I had the same icky feeling the author did when watching Woody Allen's "Manhattan" recently. Gorgeous black-and-white cinematography, great cast, and other merits. ... But the core of the movie is a guy in his 40s dating a 17-year-old! And that relationship is portrayed as acceptable in the movie. Ick.

After watching the movie, I had to know what the source material was like.
Really good book so far. Telling the story from so many POVs sounds confusing at first, but the way it's put together works surprisingly well.
The author creates distinct, three-dimensional characters through the way each of them talk about this deadly marriage.

First time with a Harlan Coben book. Seen the name everywhere and his work has been adapted for TV.
Not impressed so far. Very cynical, but not clever in its writing. Telling, not showing.
Gonna push through though to get to the end of the novel's mystery.

Novel about stealing a book includes a nod to Kanye's "Stronger," 90% of which is a sampled Daft Punk song.
And the unreliable narrator seems to think the song is a Kanye original.
