Finished the authors note of himself. Now I can actually begin the book proper.

Finished the preface. It was written by Irving himself so it's from one of his actual publications.

" I am unfitted for any periodically recurring task, or any stipulated labor of body or mind period I have no command of my talents, such as they are, and have to watch the varyings of my mind as I would those of a weathercock."

Definitely feel this. I get bored of things easily aswell.

Now I can begin the preface, then the authors account on himself. By the time I actually get to a story I'll have read 20 pages. They're really framing Irving up but I'll be out of steam by then. If only I hadn't promised myself to read books in their entirety.
