After taking Hobbes home, Calvin asks his father what to do when he catches a tiger, and his father tells him to stuff the tiger. Calvin, however, misinterprets his father's instructions and stuffs Hobbes full of food from the family's kitchen. Somehow, I don't think Calvin's parents are going to be very happy.

Just read "Chapter Twenty-Two - In the Truck". While driving to Sidewinder, Danny tells Wendy they should stay at the Overlook because Jack's worried about what will happen if he quits. His decision is made final when Wendy says they would have to stay with her unbearable mother if they left. Unfortunately, Tony didn't come when Danny tried to ask him if they're safe at the hotel. Regardless, they're staying.

Just read the first strip. Here we're introduced to Calvin, a precocious little boy, and Hobbes, a tiger. Calvin rigged a tiger trap with a tuna fish sandwich, catching the foolish Hobbes. Let's see how well these two get to know each other.

Finished Chapter 21. Danny, also cognizant of Jack's recurring symptoms, wanted to tell Wendy about the firehose but didn't, afraid of getting committed to a sanitarium. He really wants to leave the Overlook, but knows this is Jack's last chance and that he doesn't know what to do if he loses his job. Danny plans to contact Tony soon to find out what "REDRUM" is and how to combat it.

It turns out Danny knew all about Jack's phone call with Al Shockley through reading Jack's thoughts. Wendy, who's noticed all of Jack's drinking symptoms have come back except for losing his temper, is still confused about how Danny knows all the things he does. She doesn't like what the Overlook is doing to Jack and Danny, and decides to talk to Danny about the hotel tomorrow.

Just started reading "Chapter Twenty-One - Night Thoughts". Al Shockley calls Jack and reprimands him for arguing with Ullman and for wanting to write such an exposing book on the Overlook that could damage its reputation. He promises not to fire Jack if he doesn't call Ullman anymore and abandons the book idea. Jack ragefully agrees, but decides to write a more exposing book than he had planned out of revenge.

Just read "Chapter Twenty - Talking to Mr. Ullman". After finding out more about the Overlook at the library (and yelling at Wendy after getting a headache), Jack calls Ullman and berates him for not being fully honest about the Overlook's history, even foolishly telling him about the book he wants to write. Ullman goes ballistic at Jack and says he's going to call Al Shockley to convince him to fire Jack. Damn.

Just read "Chapter 19 - Outside 217". After lunch, Danny steals the Overlook's passkey and is tempted to enter Room 217, the room where the woman had killed herself, but remembers his promise to Dick not to go in there and avoids it, remembering the story of Bluebeard. On the way back, he passes by a firehose that falls off its frame and imagines it as a poisonous snake that chases him. Or ... DID he imagine it?

Just read "Chapter Eighteen - The Scrapbook". In the basement, Jack finds the scrapbook Danny saw in his vision and looks through it. He reads about the different owners of the Overlook Hotel, then learns the hotel was accused of being a safe-haven for mafia kingpins, and that a mafia murder took place in the Presidential Suite (which Danny had a vision of in Chapter 12). Yikes! What a history!

Finished Chapter 17! Dr. Edmonds talks to Jack and Wendy about Danny. He believes the visions Tony is showing Danny are just Danny being incredibly perceptive; the bad visions are nightmares caused by Danny now rejecting Tony as an invisible friend due to his improved life situation, since Tony was born during a period of tensions between Jack and Wendy. He says to call if anything goes wrong.

Just started reading "Chapter Seventeen - The Doctor's Office". After an EEG test, Dr. Bill Edmonds questions Danny about Tony, then asks if he can make Tony appear. Tony appears and shows Danny a vision of Jack in the Overlook's basement, looking at a scrapbook that Danny has a bad feeling about. Then Danny finds himself being chased by the menacing figure again. When the vision ends, he can't remember a thing.

Finished Chapter 16! Danny has another nightmare where he is chased through the Overlook by the sinister figure. However, things don't get much better when he wakes up; the wasps from the nest are somehow still alive and start stinging him. Jack and Wendy take care of the wasps and treat Danny, then Jack traps the wasps and nest in a Pyrex bowl that he takes outside. He's got a bad feeling about the Overlook now.

With plans to visit the doctor tomorrow, Jack asks Wendy to take Danny to live with Wendy's mother if there's something wrong with him, believing it was a bad idea to have them stay at the Overlook with him. Wendy, due to her dislike for her mother, opts to take Danny to town instead and find a job there. But for now, the two are going to wait for the doctor to see if there really is something wrong with Danny.

Just started reading "Chapter Sixteen - Danny". Danny goes catatonic while receiving a vision from Tony, making Jack and Wendy break down the bathroom door to get to him. As Danny wakes up, his stuttering and cryptic reference to a timer remind Jack of his attack on George Hatfield, making him yell at Danny. As Danny goes to bed, Jack starts craving a drink due to how shitty he feels about his behavior.

Just read "Chapter Fifteen - Down In the Front Yard". Wendy and Danny get home from shopping, and Danny is overjoyed at the wasps' nest, which Jack has decided to give to Danny, despite Wendy's concern over whether or not it's safe. Jack assures her he used the bug bomb and made sure all the wasps were out. So it should be safe. Hope Danny enjoys his new present!

Just started "Part Three - The Wasps' Nest" and read "Chapter Fourteen - Up On the Roof". After getting stung after uncovering a wasps' nest while reshingling the Overlook's roof, Jack reflects on how his temper and drinking have always gotten him into trouble. Since arriving at the hotel, Jack has gotten a lot of work done on his play, and feels that things will finally turn around for him. Good for you, Jack!

Just read "Chapter Thirteen - The Front Porch" and finished Part 2. Ullman says goodbye to the Torrance family and leaves them for the winter. The family is now all alone with the hotel, and Jack starts feeling that the hotel has taken a sinister tone, trapping the three of them. It's up to the family to survive the winter here. If they can. Overall, good part! And good luck to the Torrance family.

Just read "Chapter Twelve - The Grand Tour". Mr. Ullman gives the Torrance family a tour of the Overlook. In the Presidential Suite, Danny has a terrifying vision of the aftermath of a gun death in the bathroom, but that's all he sees during the tour. Once the family has gotten acquainted with the place, Watson reminds Jack about the boiler and leaves them to their post. So far, so good.

Just read "Chapter Eleven - The Shining". Hallorann reveals to Danny that he has psychic powers as well, which he calls "shining", and also receives visions and dreams, which he says don't always come true. The visions are just like pictures in a book, and he doesn't believe they can hurt Danny. He also warns Danny to stay out of Room 217, where he saw the ghost of the woman who killed herself. Be careful, Doc!

Just read "Chapter Ten - Hallorann". The Torrance family meets the Overlook's cook, Dick Hallorann. As he gives the family a tour of the kitchen, Hallorann appears to show signs of some kind of telepathy. He knows Danny's nickname, despite Jack and Wendy never saying it; Danny knows Dick's name, despite Dick never saying it; and at one point, he seems to send Danny a telepathic message. What is it with this guy?

Just read "Chapter Nine - Checking It Out". The Torrance family enters the Overlook Hotel and examines the lobby and the outside view of the front yard from the window, while Mr. Ullman deals with an unbearable rich customer. Jack and Wendy are happy together, which makes Danny happy, but Danny is still worried about what could potentially happen in the hotel. Hang in there, doc!

Just started "Part Two - Closing Day" and read "Chapter Eight - A View of the Overlook". As the Torrance family drives to the Overlook Hotel so Jack can start his job, they stop at a scenic turnout and get out of the car to enjoy a beautiful view of the hotel. Danny, however, realizes this is the place Tony warned him against; the place where "Redrum" is. Whatever ends up happening, please be careful, Danny!

Just read "Chapter Seven - In Another Bedroom" and finished Part 1. Danny is woken up by a nightmare of what he saw in his Overlook vision. He calls out for Tony, who appears and tells Danny not to go to the hotel. As Danny goes back to bed, his mind is bombarded by a word he saw in his vision: "REDRUM". What does that word mean? Overall, great part! Loved the character backstories!

Just read "Chapter Six - Night Thoughts". As Wendy goes to sleep, she reflects on how she and Jack met and got married, only for their marriage to turn to shit by Jack's drinking. Jack surprised her with a sudden sobriety when she wanted to request divorce for breaking Danny's arm; this, in turn, prevented himself from breaking apart the family, which was good for Danny, who prefers Jack over Wendy.

Just started the volume and read "Episode 23: The Female Titan". After an encounter with the Female Titan, Armin comes to believe the Titan is after Eren. He teams up with Jean and Reiner to temporarily distract the Titan to give the remaining members of the formation time to retreat. All three make it out alive, but the Female Titan starts running towards Eren's squad afterward. Uh oh!

Just read "Chapter Five - Phonebooth". As Jack visits a phone booth to thank his friend Al for getting him the job at the Overlook, Jack reflects on his alcoholism, which damaged his marriage with Wendy. His alcoholism finally ended when Jack and Al ran over an abandoned bicycle at night while driving drunk. He hasn't touched booze since, but still has anger issues, which cost him his teaching job. Damn.

Just read "Episode 22: Long-Distance Enemy Scouting Formation" and finished the volume. As the Survey Corps leaves the wall, Commander Erwin directs the soldiers into a special formation designed to keep all soldiers alive. All goes well until a female Titan, who Armin believes could be human-controlled, leads a Titan horde to massacre the Titan scouts before going after Armin. Oh no! But overall, great volume!

Just read "Episode 21: Opening the Gate". After failing to find who killed Sawney and Bean, the military holds a ceremony to recruit new cadets into the Survey Corps, to start an expedition to reclaim Wall Maria and make it to Eren's old basement. Many of Eren's friends, including Mikasa and Armin, join the Survey Corps, and the expedition begins a month later. Here we go! Don't disappoint, you guys!

Just read "Chapter Four - Shadowland". Danny is actually clairvoyant and can read people's thoughts, including scary thoughts of divorce his parents often have. He also has an imaginary "friend" named Tony who shows him visions. Danny has a vision of himself in a decrepit Overlook Hotel, being terrorized by a figure chasing him with a mallet. Yikes. Jack doesn't end up trying to kill his family, does he?

Just read "Chapter Three - Watson". It's Jack broke Danny's arm while trying to spank him for spilling a beer all over a play he was working on. Meanwhile, Watson, the assistant manager, shows Jack the basement, where his main job is to keep the boiler at a steady pressure. Watson also tells Jack about a guest who came to the hotel to have an affair with a teenager, then killed herself when he left her. Yikes!
