Overwhelming! Redundant! Repetitive! This book is great for adhd in some ways- beat the clock by reading faster than the chapter prediction. And horrible in others: repetitive, BORING, slow-moving, meandering.

Omfg, p 89. Random reference to diet culture, calorie tracking, weight loss. The reference doesn’t even make sense, and serves to make the paragraph MORE confusing.

Redundant? Hard to focus on, and makes me wonder if “knowledge workers” actually DO anything. The first bit is a sales pitch for the concept. Ohhkkayyy…. But I’ve already bought or borrowed the book, and I’m actively reading it. I don’t need to be told to invest in the idea.

This book. I will end up screaming in frustration. Page 88: wtf is going on with this sentence: “The belly is the seat of our basic desires, which in Laozi’s view are quite modest: some plain food to eat, water to drink, a roof over the head, maybe a little low-key fun in the sack, and basta.” Wtf does “basta” mean in this context? I took Italian, I actually DO know what it means.

The information on the teachings of Confucius are moderately interesting. Is it just me, or are things getting spirally around chapter 4? I’m trying to try to finish this book!

pages 214-215 are beautifully written, and I relate with allness.

audiobook. will not be finishing. the pre-teen character, Crie, is so incredibly badly written. There's no empathy or understanding of young people- she's just described as "fat" and "withdrawn". The places where her internal monologue is explored just read like what a judgmental wank would assume a fat person would think.
