I just got through the first time Allan hit Tia on the beach and now he’s angry at her for having friendships and dating. The library needs the book back and I think this is too heavy for me.

If you can handle hearing about end-times Christian horror and fear-based religious indoctrination, this is a great book. It’s well-written, but yikes!

Everything is super perfect right now, so it’s all about to fall apart

Things seem to be headed too smoothly in the right direction for being about halfway through, so I’m suspicious that something is about to go wildly awry.

Alex does a really good job of seeking consent. A grade to the author for such good modeling of the desired behavior.

I'm bothered by the slut shaming of both men and women in the opening chapters, but it has settled down, and that viewpoint by the main character sets us up for the situation she is in.

I want to read a book about Sophie Talbot, who knows truth in the face of gossip.

If you are thinking of reading this novella, you should. I might even re-read it someday, which is unlike me. There are layers and it is a well-crafted, interesting story.

I wish that the author or an editor had done a close edit of the timeline of this book. I'm devouring it (just started this morning) and keep being distracted by references to days of the week and numbers of days since/until an event that don't add up.
