The word "murmur" is used 139 times in this book. The story isn't set in a church. EVERYBODY SPEAK UP NOBODY CAN HEAR YOU

So far I'm finding Lily pretty unlikeable and borderline annoying. I'll be surprised if Yardley turns this around.

I just made it through 20ish pages of foreplay and sex. It almost made me quit. I enjoy a good fictional lay but holy shit. So many unnecessary words. So. Many. It's first person narration and when the heroine finally went "I couldn't put it [the bliss of what's apparently a large peen] into words to save my life" I was SO GLAD. But she did.

AND THEN THE HERO ASKS IF SHE ENJOYED IT ☠️

The whole hymen and "vaginas become loser, the more sex you have" nonsense needs to die a quick death. Wtf. It's intensely annoying how much both come up in the story, which takes away from the fact that the plot itself is pretty great.

Love Bonny and Valentine. Arabella makes me want to dnf in annoyance every time she gets some pages though

Book Insta made me do it and I'm weirdly intrigued

The writing is excellent - as expected. Haven's marriage is truly fucking awful though and I don't think some trigger warnings would've been too much to ask. There's some physical abuse but mostly verbal abuse and gaslighting. I have experienced neither and found it hard to read and I'm only 20% in and the marriage has about another year left if the blurb is to be believed. It's rough.

The book comes with the most helpful and thorough content warnings I've ever seen. That alone deserves its own ⭐

I'm not sure if I like the main characters but I'm very intrigued and interested to see how everything plays out. A lot of the plot is pretty obvious but I actually don't mind.

And I'm done. Nope. No. I give up.

Both main characters have super meh opinions of the opposite sex. She's obviously not like other girls, he's not like alllll other men. Because he can cook(?!?).
The book started out so well but I just want to throat-punch them both at this point.
Also can't believe that the heroine was married for EIGHTEEN YEARS and her husband has apparently never cooked for her? Not that he's collecting ANY points in this book wow

The whole "she is not like other women" thing is killing me. She likes pizza and beer and he loses his mind. What in the fresh hell is this?

69% harhar. The plot just went to shit and I'm wondering if this fight they're having might be the stupidest, most pointless I've ever read adults having. What. The. Hell.
