This is such a slog, I am so tempted to DNF but I've already made it halfway through. Ugh. I just have to get through it, it's only a couple more hours max.

They're so obsessed and she still loves this dickhead? The book could probably benefit from 100-200 more pages to tell the story and make the emotional connection make sense

The opening is so....poetic? The descriptions and voice of the writing is so flowery but I kinda love it. The character developments don't necessarily make sense, advancing fast and hard, but it doesn't bother me

The way the city is described with a mix of city noise and the looming forest creates this feeling of isolation, there's no mention of suburbs, I'm so intrigued to figure out where this is

Again with this "you have a choice, you just have to say something" - she did, you didn't remind her of the option to back out. They dismissed any of her stated wishes and protests to their actions but afterwards she's supposed to know that she had an out that was not present in the moment. I'm so over their BS. first backdoor experience and she was essentially told to take it because there wasn't another choice.

Finally found a hockey bro that's more bro than hunky. Ugh. He's being a jerk for no reason and then gets away with starting the physical relationship right after handing her the check for child support? He's mad that she never knew and reached out as if he wasn't the one to end the relationship and break her heart. Why is it that they act as if they are slighted when they're overreacting and stomping boundaries?

They're so cute, I'd definitely fall for the charm and dominance lol

It feels icky. It feels like abusive parenting. She's punished without feeling like she can express her autonomy until it's too late. She's spanked without a discussion of why she didn't follow directions. It feels infantilizing where her statements of being an adult and able to make choices is brushed off, as if the men always know better. Just ew.

I'm conflicted. The signs of abuse are a little too close to parenting practices I was exposed to while growing up. It's hard to see her 'behaving' as progress when I know the lasting effects it has on the mind. The overbearing dominance flirts with abuse cycles, punishments, lack of choice and autonomy, no boundaries for her, and they seem to make new ones arbitrarily without prior discussions. The sex is hot, tho
