Need to pause for a moment both to collect my thoughts so far and also to say I am so happy I am listening to this as an audiobook. An older woman was chosen for the reader and listening to it gives the feeling of a grandmother holding your hand and telling you about life (although the actual author is younger). So far it is beautifully done and the way the author writes about her children shows so much love.

There is something somewhat comforting of reading about lesbians in the 70s also playing a game of "is it a man or a lesbian" when looking for other queer women in public

Why is this woman so completely obsessed with these children that she basically just met???

Really hoping this eventually turns around to have more of a positive focus on things that DO make people happy in their communities and less of a focus on things that make people unhappy. There's some positive things mentioned that affect happiness, but it still feels focused on the bad so far

This is not at all what I was expecting. Main character is a zombie but the whole book/her thoughts remind me of the way poetry is written(?). It's a short book, but it is taking me longer to get through each page because of how it's written.

Ok I was worried about this being a harder book to get through, but it's written so well. Well researched and informative but not boring to read. Also adore hearing about some famous bookshop cats throughout history. Excited for the rest of it.
