Average European pickpocketing experience

Genuinely struggled to get through these past 20 or so pages because of how boring and disconnected it all seems from the main plot. But now with Albert going to Paris to supposedly marry into a prestigious family, and with Dantes going to visit him, I'm hoping this can FINALLY loop back to focusing on the "villain" here, so here's hoping Albert is marrying into the Villefort family and things can pick back up again

And after finishing that abhorrent Sarah j Maas book, in 200 pages this man Dumas has cooked up a more interesting story than she ever could. Even chapter 18 which was just explaining a bunch of shit was good af. I was scared I would get Dorian Gray flashbacks w that one chapter (iykyk)

As much as I've grown to hate Sarah J Maas, it would've been a biblical miracle if this series was just a trilogy. Whoever keeps letting this lady yap on and on in this series and green lights it might actually hate her or gets off on the public embarrassment that is a Sarah J Maas book

Books picking up, but with the Muad'dib excerpts from the beginning of each chapter pretty much foreshadowing things, at this point, I'm just waiting for Leto to die. Seems like it'll happen sooner rather than later

Pretty good so far. I'm liking the world building, and how each chapter starts with a quote from this "Manual of Muad'dib" to show the parallels between the prophecy and Paul's life, kinda already giving away what'll happen. Lot of set building and context for this first read, so nothing has really happened yet, but I'm still liking it and def strongly believe I'm gonna commit to reading at least this and Messiah

I had to switch to an audiobook for this. For context I have a morning book and a night book and this being my morning book made me dread my mornings and lowk just make me tired 😭😭 So now I'm reading A Count of Monte Cristo in the mornings, and this is now something to essentially put on in the background, and I'll mainly listen to it when I'm making lunch.

Pretty damn good so far. I like, as to not go ahead and spoil anything so far, the trickery and deception at play rn 😈 I can also perfectly picture everything in my head, and since there's apparently a show based on this book now, I'll probably watch it after I'm done with this (looking like it'll take around 3 weeks or so to finish if I keep up with the pace I'm setting for myself)

Starting off pretty interesting. But they always do. Hopefully, with this book being significantly shorter than anything else in the series, Maas can actually have good story beats and pacing

I almost feel bad for the kid. But damn near all his problems are self inflicted, so in reality, I don't feel bad for him
