Wahh I really enjoy Torver’s and Lavellin’s romance developing!

Honestly I think it’s kinda stupid that Bassen is testing the limit of her powers while they’re trying not to be discovered by the authorities… you’d think a whole farm worth of cows dead at the same time would be a little suspicious and point in their direction😭

I’m a bit confused how the Valg Powers still work even on someone with the anti-valg ring??? Maybe it will still be explained?

The start is a little slow so far… I just want the action after TOD was also slow.

It’s finally time to start this book!! I am SO glad I finally get to see where the story goes after the end of EOS!

I’m still not very positive on this book… but I do like Chaol a bit more now, I appreciate Yrene, and like Chaol and Yrene together 👍🏻

I’m kinda interested in the Yrene and Chaol storyline, but tbh this late in the series I really don’t care for the new side characters. And Nesryn too tbh. This book is still hard to get through 🫠 I just want to get to kingdom of ash

I like Yrene so far! When I remembered her from assassin’s blade my mind was blown.
The book still kinda bores me though so I’m going through this one slowly.

I’m giving this book an honest try but I really don’t like Chaol 😭 he’s so self-righteous, then he’s depressed when he learns loyalty is maybe not always the morally right choice, is now conflicted about morality but keeps telling Aelin she’s making the morally wrong choice. And now at the start of this book he’s just depressed. I assume he will have a character arc in this book but man.

“Mala cast her very essence into the lock to forge it” I can see where this will eventually lead after listening to an interview with Sarah about ACOTAR in which I got a spoiler for the ending of the TOG series 🫠 but tbh I’m okay with it!

I’m cryinggg omggg finally elide and aelin meet. This is such an amazing scene 😭

Also ngl I wasn’t a fan of Manon during heir of fire, but since the previous book and this book I like her!

I’m kinda annoyed at Rowan dropping lore about characters the first time he meets them because “he can smell it” 😭

But in more positive news, the scene where Aelin visits the graveyard with Rowan is beautiful. I miss Sam 💔

My immersion is breaking so bad in the scene where Aelin makes Aedion breakfast. It’s bad enough she already has a modern bathroom, but this girl also literally has a fridge, toaster, modern stove etc so she can make her bacon and egg toast for breakfast in her medieval fantasy world. 😭

“Manon Blackbeak, heir of the blackbeak witch-clan, bearer of the blade wind-cleaver, rider of the wyvern abraxos, and wing leader of the king of Adarlan’s aerial host,” jesus could that intro and all those titles be even longer or?? 😭
I still do not care for Manon and her chapters keep feeling like interruptions of the main story to me.

I’m glad there’s finally some action and developments happening again after how slow the last book was! Still very annoyed at it switching perspective to a completely different story though.
