The title character is so cheesy, exhausting, immature I keep putting the book down. Basic communication is a sludge to crawl through my god.

This is the most miserable thing I have ever read.

I went in blind so I didn't know the setting of this book and yet once I DID and braced myself, it has still managed to knock the wind out of me multiple times. This bit about someone being stoned to death is making me put down the book today. It's too much, but mostly because it's too real.

It felt as though the narrative actually began only at about 60%, but I can't figure out what took up all the time prior. I don't feel like it did any world building, story building, background, context.

The shock of that. Jesus.

Ughhhh I can just tell it's about to be one of those IT'S NOT WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE romcom moments. They fill me with hate and cringe. Just talk instead of running away without context oh my god.

I was going to throw in the towel on this series given how the dumb plot had ceased to be the fun sort of dumb, but as it's ending the fun has picked back up. Finnnneee.

Only a few pages in and I've already muttered, "Jesus christ," twice in exasperation. Time will tell if it's amusing or annoying, but this book opened with two returns from the dead lol. I feel like I'm watching Passions, the old soap opera with demon possessions.

I hate manufactured miscommunication. If a plot can only unfold because characters suddenly refuse to ask for clarity, it's a fun-killer for me. It gives me so much cringe anxiety I can't handle it. I've been having so much mindless fun until this.

I wish I could find any value in this. I am so disinterested.

I'm currently not grasping anything I'm reading. It's clearly intentional but it is currently coming off like bad Marukami to me. I'm having a hard time paying attention, it feels like it's trying to hard to be dreamy I'm drifting to sleep.

I've been listening largely indifferent until now. What the main character experienced, and what it meant to her, at the doctor's office in preventative care just absolutely gutted me. Extremely effective writing in establishing who she was early on to give us full perspective into what this admittedly small moment did to her.

I do not see any value in this type of story telling, honestly. I find it jarring to read, lacking any depth.

I saw it coming the moment the brother arrived and yet I am MAD.

Somehow Ariadne's story beyond a brief mention with the labyrinth is entirely new to me so I don't know if this is all new fiction or a retelling of her story but all I know is I did not see what just happened coming and I. Am. Invested.

This was a 1 star until about a chapter ago. Now I'm enjoying it, it's looking like a 3 star - what an upswing with Sydney rising.

I have no idea what is going on. Like, I get the story line, but I don't see the gravity, I don't understand why it's a story, I'm still waiting for plot. Everything feels blunted, hollow. I am bored as sin.

I'm only 4% in and it's taken me a week or so to get to this point. I went into this blindly and I have no idea what genre of plot to expect, my favourite way to read, but so far it's beyond dull. A story of struggle but without any sort of urgency, more references to the temperature of his penis than I could count. I'm putting it down for another day or two.

Well it's mildly interesting to know who the prophet is but I'm having a hard time caring because they were all but unmentioned previous to year 0. Their family dynamic doesn't add weight to it to me because we never saw it.

So far I'm enjoying the writing a lot, I'm enjoying snapshots of the lives these people are leading, how they're feeling, but I have no interest as to where the plot is going.

The parts about Arthur and his loved ones are not bad at all, but I'm finding myself wanting to skip ahead as I feel as though we're wasting time that could be spent on the storylines I'm actually interested in.

All of the interesting plot points have felt like those Grand Misunderstanding moments in RomComs, easily solved with communication. I am so irritated reading this book. It's not bad, it's just annoying.

Having a super rough time getting into this. Maybe it's the narrator as I'm listening to the audio but I'm so bored with this in every way. I'm not interested in the plot (no plot yet to speak of), I'm not interested in the main character (the schtick of it being in retrospect is making me feel like OKAY I GET IT, MOVE ON since I know we're getting backstory by the phrasing).

This female protagonist is so dumb it's infuriating. Tell them who your mother was and they'll protect you. They almost literally spelled it out to you, saying they'd protect anyone from the families of the resistance.

It launched in so abruptly and awkwardly I genuinely thought I'd accidentally skipped a couple chapters. Not off to a good start.

I'm finding myself utterly disgusted by these people, their actions, even the good ones.The culture depicted in here is disgusting and irredeemable. I can't tell if their culture is this disgusting or if the author is writing with a really bad bias.

I'm so irritated I'm fighting to not DNF this book. The problem Shakib is in is so easy to solve. The other guard apparently knows Shakib hid something? And that hidden thing is what Shakib is about to be punished for? THEN POINT OUT THE OTHER GUARD HID IT. My god, this is so dumb.

My guilty pleasure genre that never strikes out and yet I am having a hard time with this one. I find the protagonist insufferable. Irritating to read, reactive, illogical, her inner narrative is just absurd. I keep having to put it down. I hope it moves away from her inner ramblings soon.

I just let out an involuntary dismayed, "COME OOOONN, RAND." This scene is so stressful if it were a movie I'd be turning it off right now, I can't handle such thinngss.

In the prologue and already crying. God dammit Sanderson.

Sanderson is everything this series was missing. I'm so glad I invested in the previous books to have a great/better author take over.
