This book is shifting my thinking so much, broadening it!

I had no idea how much my rereading experience of this would change after Sunrise on the Reaping, but boy has it changed. I have so many new theories.

That first chapter genuinely just blew my mind. Why do I leave such big gaps between my non fiction science reads 😩🕺🏾.

I keep avoiding this, and my connection to both these characters have waned so I think I'm going to skip this and move straight to the second book in the foul lady fortune duology.

okay okay okay this isn't for me rn and it's driving me crazy how slow my progress is on this, 78 pages in one week for me is NUTS

hmm had a few instances of orientalism but brushed it off cause of how unreliable of a narrator we have, then I hit a point from which it just felt annoying to ignore so I'm DNFing this

Coincidentally picked up 2 books about 2 streets in the perspective of a woman who lives on said street: 1 in Cairo in the 1950s, 1 in New York in the 2020s.

okay fine I think I'll have to put this on hold again

nothing defintie about the characters or the plot or the world - it's literally just the pacing that isn't working for me, don't like that it's dragging me into a slump so putting this aside for now (sad)

the writing in this random ya fantasy regency book is SO GOOD - the research comes through and the cadence of it is fun to read

maybe it's because I was so disappointed by Julia Quinn, this stands out even more

The way I already had mid-high expectations and this has already exceeded them!

I had no idea this author had admitted to using AI.

I was going to DNF this anyways cause it read like performative intellectual drivel that I just can't stomach in any more literary books, but that was the true nail in the coffin for this DNF.

so far, so easy to slip into - this style of writing is always a hit or miss for me so we'll have to see how this goes
