Man, this book has some powerful sections.

This is a very interesting change of pace to the Ballard I’m used to. Normally his work infers societal decay at least at the beginning but seeing it on full display in the context of a war is something else entirely.

Just the most beautiful description of derelict aircraft field and a adjacent abandoned battleground. There’s already so much to like here.

Un surprisingly a very strong and compelling beginning. No one does prose quite like Ballard and his distinctive voice and style is so well suited to exploring the horror of war.

My copy only has 14 pages left 🥲. I don’t want it to end.

The sheep man cometh

Beautiful cozy descriptions of a very rural cottage and a beautiful forest around it. Reading this book gives the most cozy and thought-provoking energy sometimes. A lovely read.
