I’ve been crying a lot and getting sad a lot over this book.

just so relatable to my own life experiences as a gay kid, gay teen, being different and a gay adult trying to navigate life and society that still treats you like you’re a freak.

Reading this also made me miss my best friend so much and I’m so grateful our relationship survived 2025.

I’m absolutely devastated right now. Every line I read about being different is hitting so hard. Being robbed of being treated the same as everyone else because everyone viewed you as different, it’s an experience I know all too well. I didn’t have community when I was figuring myself out at the age, I didn’t get that community until I graduated HS. I’m glad I have it now but it’s sad it took so long.

started reading this while working a soccer tournament and it’s actually quite gripping so far. she’s setting the scenes very well and establishing the tensions like as if I’m there with her.

this one is smaller and shorter so I should finish this by the weekend. I’ve yet to go to one of his rallies but I’m sure the midterms will allow more of an opportunity for me to see this in person.

Lanier almost made it to the pinnacle again in 1942 as they had in 1939. Can they finally do it in 1943?? We shall see! Nemo will whip them into shape.

if you want to learn about Lanier HS and the school’s influence on San Antonio’s west side, please pick this up. It’s incredible. Some cool stories. I’m learning a lot and tying it to my family, many of whom graduated from Lanier and grew up on the west side. Currently reading about their 1939 basketball run at State.

stopping for now at the Rahm Emanuel chapter to mentally prepare for how demented his backstory is.

but I just finished reading about how Nancy Pelosi rose to power and all I have to say is that woman needs to retire and go away. Gross.

what was insane was reading about the very noticeable parallels between the 1968 and 2024 presidential elections.

also Biden was anti-civil rights when he got elected in *1972*!!!!

Bernie perfectly lays out why working class people vote for Donald Trump. And it’s even more true after the 2024 election.

Just general political and electoral history, including Jesse Jackson’s electric runs for the Dem nomination in the 80s. I’m taking lots of notes and really retaining the info.
