passage I’ve now read at least six times over

“There is a crime here that goes beyond denunciation. There is a sorrow here that weeping cannot symbolize. There is a failure here that topples all our success. And children dying of pellagra must die because a profit cannot be taken from an orange. And coroners must fill in the certificate-died of malnutrition-because the food must rot, must be forced to rot.”

I’m not sure I’ve ever been so captured by a book. I also didn’t know poetry could be this way.

A treasure. The humor sort of insists on itself in a way that makes you forget how ridiculous it all is. Funniest book I’ve read that’s for sure

Just got through “the depressed person” and was rather amazed. This is a side of mental illness I rarely hear mentioned.
