Oh the prince is cruel...as expected....Wei is navigating so much as the Empress in Waiting. I wonder if the Prince will be shown to be different than his cruelty? Some stories turn out that way (MMC becomes caring), because the killing spell is talked of as a love poem. I almost wonder if Wei will fall in love and write that poem, bu lt struggle to cast it if she loves him..

Book club read yaaaayyyyyyyy!!! It's interesting so far, it's definitely exploring themes of patriarchy and the empowerment/disempowerment of women. I am eager to see how she will withstand the concubine training. A lot of plant metaphors. Dont really like the whole 'planting' thing as a euphemism for impregnantion but it makes sense given the world-building. I wonder if the feared heir is as cruel as the rumors say

I went into this not really knowing what to expect and while it's got heavy themes, i am really enjoying how Ambrose's OCD is portrayed. And the childhood memories / present day dual timelines. It's maybe a bit cliche a clown kidnaps them but it's true to how kids get abducted. Poor Ambrose tried to listen to his instincts. Dollie waiting in the car and trying and failing to get help....ugh 😭

They were fortunate to meet the Kawésqar people, but it was understandable why they chose to abandon the castaways. And that poor dog :( Starvation is a desperate condition
