Found this at a discout book outlit, and I'm so glad I did. Jane is so funny and has a great pulse on technology and our relationship to it. I love a novel with multiple parallel stories featuring different characters, but I'm not invested in any of them here as much as I am with Blaine and his family. I'd be glad to see the others be developed in an interesting way, especially if their stories started to intersect.

I was really sucked into this, but now I've lost quite a bit of momentum. It's fascinating to watch Stanton's reaction in real time as he plays around with Chat for the first time. His footnotes and comments throughout the text are especially interesting; he's clearly a smart writer. But, the substantive part of the text is still ai-generated garbage - it's just not good. I'd much rather read it if Stanton wrote it.

I'm not really seeing why this book is so popular. It's creative but has some fairly tired tropes, and the characters are frustratingly boring and 2D. He uses a style I've noticed in other books where the character's inner dialogue completely bogs down everything; there's never so few as two spoken lines next to each other. I wouldn't have gotten this far without giving up if I wasn't reading this for a book club
