The writing feels like it is giving me a little whiplash. The setting is very much fantasy and it seems like it would be in a world without modern technology and sorts but the language and the word choices for the characters’ dialogue is a little too modern to go with the setting. I am listening to the audiobook and i think narrator is also fueling the mismatch writing with how she is presenting the dialogue.

I had to switch to the audiobook to avoid DNFing this book. The overall concept has been really interesting, but the writing in my opinion is not good. “No one knows my thoughts, but I know they are there because I am thinking of them.” Girl what?

I’m considering DNFing. There is way too much going on and it doesn’t feel like the story has progressed much.
