Things are going way too well for just 50% so I'm bracing myself for something absolutely horrendous. 👀

Well. That was a gut punch of a beginning.

The only thing published by Mereda Farynyk that I've somehow never read.

I have about a million books on my to-read list, but I was rewatching the series and trying to remember how the pacing compared to the book so now here I am.

Somehow within 2 months I managed to choose two books that center around homes being converted to field hospitals following a civil war battle, featuring abundant amputations. 😅

After devouring the other 2 books in this set, I have very high hopes for this one, but I have to say that I personally have a much easier time empathizing with Evelyn's journalism and Lucie's ballet and bookshop than with Else's physics research! 😅

Waiting until tonight to finish this may actually kill me, but it's fine.

Also listening to the audiobook and wondering why the hunter sounds like a bad imitation of someone in an old Western. Glad he's a very minor character. 😅

Guys I woke up this morning excited to get to late afternoon so I can keep going with this.

I'm forging ahead, but 7 POVs (I think) with 4 of the names starting with C/K and 2 more with V has me struggling! It's taken me ages to remember who's who, especially since it's an audio book and I can't flip back to remind myself.

Forging ahead but I gotta say that 7 POVs (if I counted correctly) with the names of 4 of them beginning with C/K, and 2 more starting with V, has me struggling a bit. I think I finally figured out who everybody is but keeping them straight hasn't been easy, especially since it's an audiobook and I can't flip back to remind myself!

Having to stop for the night at chapter 42 and I AM NOT OK.
