Not the best book I've ever read, but entertaining enough and I like that it's a little different from my usual scene 😊

Reading the original Afrikaans version with my parents. Absolutely beautiful - so gripping and compelling. Will have to find the book back home when we leave now in order to complete it.

I'm giving this one a 2nd read since I really enjoyed it when reading it a few years ago. It's been hard to find good, enjoyable books lately, so worth rereading don't gems 😊

This forms part of my mandatory reading for a course and came highly recommended by 3 colleagues & a close friend. But I must say I've been slogging through most of it.

There are some highlights here and there and nuggets of revelation providing great insights, but for the most part I'm certainly not finding it a fun or entertaining read.

I can see that it's valuable reading to some, but not quite my cuppa tea.

This book sadly got left behind at my parents in Jhb, so I'll have to complete it at a later stage. But it was excellent!! 3/4 way through I had to put it on hold for a bit as the suffering was just too relentless, but from having watched the movie now too (which doesn't do the book any justice by the way!) I know it will be worthwhile finishing.

My dad has in the meantime devoured the book and loved it! 😁

My mom lent me this book after she started reading it to us when we were on holiday together. It's a beautifully written, unique story that I'm absolutely loving. There are ones or two minor things I would've done a little differently but am mostly very fond of it and learning a bit about Polish and Hungarian history at the same time that I didn't know much about at all.
