There’s no way that that a celebrity would ever do this. And why did the security guard let him in? None of this makes sense like what

Why is everyone in this book so insufferable man. I actually vehemently despise all the characters. I get in a bad mood after reading this honestly. I guess that means Palahniuk is good at what he’s doing

I feel so bad for Foster. What he did with the girl on the plane is unforgivable but as someone who’s reading the book and not in their world, I feel so bad for him. Especially because of the people at the funeral. Could they not realise then that the guy isn’t crazy, he’s just depressed? They had what was coming for them when he pulled out the gun honestly

I’m glad people avoided Mitzi.

Yo wtf is wrong with everyone in this book. I think Palahniuk is trying to make us uncomfortable and it’s definitely working.

Foster needs to get a hold of himself. There was no reason to make fake Lucinda that scared. I understand that he’s severely mentally ill but still. I hope the people at the support group get through to him. Or maybe he’s quit that now?

Idek what to say about Mitzi. I hate her

What an interesting book so far. I think it’s meant to shock you, and it has docked me so far

I don’t really like any of the characters but I think it’s meant to be like that. I hate Mitzi the most, her arrogance and cockiness is actually infuriating. I feel bad for Foster, he’s clearly damaged and not coping with it well at all.

I wonder how this will play out

Wow, everyone’s going crazy. It’s interesting to see how the relationships break down as everyone gets suspicious of everyone else. Connant is not doing anything to help himself, it was quite weird when he focused on the flame…

I have a feeling that either Kinner killed himself, Blair escaped and killed him or The Thing killed him. Also, who’s to say that Blair isn’t a monster?

This is so exciting

I loved the action in this chapter, Campbell makes it really easy to be immersed.

I feel like Connant has been acting weird since he was ‘babysitting’ the Thing but maybe that’s just me knowing he’s one of them as I’ve watched the film. No one is probably gonna believe Blair’s suspicion because he’s gone a bit loopy but even Connant’s reaction to Blair asking him if he’s there was odd…

I’m enjoying this a lot so far. I wonder if The Thing influenced McReady’s dream as he was the one who made first contact with it. But that’s just a theory. I don’t know if it’s just for the plot but there’s no way McReady could have randomly dreamt about exactly what The Thing does

Campbell sometimes describes things too much and I kinda get lost but I don’t know if that’s just me

I’m already so excited to read on, the scene is set so perfectly. Ive watched the film before and I’m not sure if I’m feeling uneasy because I know what they found before they found it, or if it’s because of Campbell excellent writing. I think a mix of both. I’ve only read the first chapter and my passion for this ‘franchise’ is ignited again. I really like the dynamic the characters share

I really enjoyed the Preface and Introduction. It’s so intestine to me how ‘The Brain Stealers of Mars’ became ‘Frozen Hell’ became ‘Who Goes There’. To be honest I’m quite interested to read that original idea. I wonder why the film adaptation was called ‘The Thing’ and not ‘Frozen Hell’

Anyways, I’m more excited to read this book now, the Preface and Introduction really hyped it up

Man I thought Zozimus was dead. I found what Bruno was saying to be very introducing but I hated that Eli kept interrupting him. He’s like a fly that keeps buzzing by your ear, I honestly hate him

I’m really glad Zozimus returned to his tribe. It’s really nice to see him back with them all and it’s unfortunate that their village has been burnt down.

There’s no way Zozimus is dead, I don’t believe it. He’s the most resilient of all of them. I can’t believe Xipetotec is finally dead. He was cool but i have had enough of him. I’m glad Prometheus did it as well, I was waiting for him to attack.

I hope Andrei doesn’t get addicted to morphine again, it already seems like we’ve lost him from this one dose

Omg finally, Nguyen is dead! I’m so glad I really really hated him. He’s been doing too much since the last book honestly. I’m glad his death was gruesome, kinda wish Andrei killed him though

I’m really glad Zozimus and Andrei have nearly escaped, hopefully Zozimus can speak to the Cubans and explain how he was with Lalo. I really hope they escape safely, they deserve it

I’m so glad Zozimus has reunited with his father, it’s really nice to see him happy. I changed my mind, I really like him, he’s grown a lot as a character. I’m so glad he killed Syd, it’s been coming for a while honestly. Syd and Eli were probably my least favourite of Vulture Squad so I’m glad Syd is outta the picture. Idk where Eli is gone but I’m glad man, I feel like he was worse than Syd.

How does Nguyen keep getting away with this? It’s absolutely insane, they had such a good plan and it all went to shit. Of course Syd found Lalo and Zozimus first, I’m getting tired of the bad guys always wining

The inclusion of a spinosaurid was quite great. I’ve been wondering if we’d see one in the series. I wish they used a Spinosaurus instead of a Suchomimus but it was still cool.

Disciple is such a pushover, what’s the point of him even being here. Also wasn’t Nguyen meant to be targeting Andrei? All he’s done is wink at him weirdly the whole time

I can’t believe that Molnar died, now it’s literally only Andrei that I like. How am I meant to get through the book with the others. I mean, Lalo and Zozimus is okay but like they’re just kinda there. I feel no attachment to them

Reading this book actually makes me so stressed and upset. I really dislike Syd, he’s actually evil. I guess it’s good writing because I genuinely feel remorse whilst reading some of these chapters. I hate Syd and Nguyen with all my heart honestly, I hate when they’re around. They’re both horrible people and I really hope they die by the end of this book. And I hope it’s a horrible death.

As a British person, Thantanos sounds ridiculous. No one speaks like that, I don’t get why Americans think we speak like that, it just makes the book a bit cringe to read sometimes

I’m quite shocked that the female Carchar killed the male Carchar, I didn’t expect that to happen at all but at least it’s gone.

Syd joining Nguyen sounds like a horrible idea. He’s just gonna get Syd killed.

Man I’m so upset that Willard died, it was so obvious Nguyen was going to kill him. Why would you ever trust him to do something like that?

I’m glad that Zozimus is rejecting Nguyen but I feel like it’s gotta bite him in the ass

Molnar never fails to disappoint. He’s so wise, I really like his character. I really hope he becomes leader of Stalker Force, especially since he seems most similar to Xavier.

I’m liking Josef a lot more than Zozimus so I’m glad we’re hearing a bit more from him.I feel like he’s quite a down to earth dude and he keeps Zozimus in check.

The fight between the Carchar and Pachy was so cool. Pettus is always great at these dinosaur fights. I can really visualise and imagine it all playing out

I hope Molnar becomes captain over Syd but he might be too immature. Anyone but Syd please

Reading about the Carnos and the Carchar was sick, their descriptions were amazing. You could really feel the fear they cause. But I can’t believe Xavier is dead. He was my favourite, I never would’ve thought he’d be killed off. Andrei’s still here but being stuck with the others the whole book is gonna be hard. Especially Nguyen, he thinks he’s so cool

I’m enjoying this book a lot so far

Honestly Nguyen is making me so angry. Idk why he thinks he’s so cool and so wise, he’s been such a shit character since the last book

It’s interesting how Stalker Force and Quad Equitum interact but idk why they gotta argue. It’s just kinda stupid. Of course Syd is being an asshole, he’s always just looking for a fight man

Also, why are we only really hearing about Zozimus and not Josef

“Rarely interacted with military forces of the countries they operated in”… Yeah right. It’s nice to see Stalker Force again, it seems like Xavier’s become a bit more serious though. I like Willard

I refuse to call Nguyen Pardus. He thinks he’s so high and mighty, he’s speaking differently as well, as if he’s wise and all knowing. It’s honestly so cringe

So far so good, I’m liking it more than the last book. I really like the map of New Fatima and the drawings of the dinosaurs. Its definitely a nice touch that makes the book feel higher quality

As for the story, it’s interesting to see how Nguyen’s new life is treating him. He’s somehow a bit less insufferable but maybe that’s because we’ve not seen a lot of him yet

Wow, i'm kinda underwhelmed here. So Xipetotec just ran away with his squad? That feels like such a rubbish ending. I know it sets up for the next book but him and Xavier barely had a fight. I was excited, and then that excitement left.

I don't even know whats going on with Nguyen. I understand his stress and anger but why would he turn against Andrei when he's been nothing but nice to him?

It’s interesting that Jericho’s nephew has more common sense and decency than he does. But I suppose it makes sense, Jericho doesn’t really care about anything but his and the USA’s image. It doesn’t matter if innocent people die, as long as he looks good it’s fine. Hopefully we see more of his nephew, maybe he’ll be the one to take Jerichos place

I’m a bit sad to be nearing the end of the book

I like the influence Xavier has on Stalker Force. I feel like they’ve become a bit more empathetic towards the animals they’re killing. Jericho’s involvement just made me angry. It’s worse because it’s totally something that would happen in the real world

Nguyen just confuses me. He’s clearly very mentally unstable, I kind of just want him to die to end his suffering. He’s completely lost himself

I feel so bad for Xavier. As the book has progressed we’ve seen him absolutely decline mentally. It’s upsetting because he’s one of the only sane and normal people in the book. I really hope he goes MIA and finds a place where he can find peace and focus on fixing himself. I really want him to go back home. I’m glad that Stalker Force are picking up on it too and care about him a lot.

I really liked the chapter with Yo-yo. He was such a sweet character, I can’t believe he died. It’s so cool how the raptors are mimicking voices but the Rhubedo raptors mimicking Xavier is interesting…

Omg what is going on with Nguyen, he’s gone absolutely crazy. Cardinalis never really did anything to him, apart from forcing him to kill Phurong. What a plot twist with Con Nhen, I knew he wasn’t dead

Omg. I can’t believe that Nguyen killed Phurong. Wtf this is crazy. I was under the impression he would do something when he found out her alias but I had no idea he’d kill her. Crazy. I wonder what’s going to happen with him now. His storyline has been the least predictable

I like how the last chapter was split for the different characters. All the perspectives were leaving me so tense and eager to read on.

Omg wtf, I can’t believe Phurong is part of this all? Maybe that’s why she’s upset at Nguyen, maybe she knows what he does and that’s why they’re trying to recruit him? To get him out of it

Damn, Xavier has the craziest plot armour. I actually thought he was gonna die. I hate how every time they find something interesting it gets disrupted by a third party that destroys everything
