This book is so fast paced, that's the only major downside. And Janette Oke's writing style of having the characters talk in a more "uneducated, country bumpkin" way is annoying me a bit. But the story is sweet.

I really wish I had paid more attention to French history. Some of the build up of the story and the political implications is making no sense to me.

I already want to sob. This story is going to be my undoing. Poor baby Haymitch😭

I am struggling to get into this. The story is not gripping me and the writing is very poetic, but it’s lacking narrative.
I really want to like this book, but I might not finish it. Also, the jumping back and forth between timeline is confusing.

Don’t even ask me how many times I have cried already.
