Vet ikke om jeg liker at den ene pov-karakteren tenker så åpenbart nedlatende ting om folk som er overvektige samt rare homofoboske ting jeg ville forventa å høre i 2008. Det virker ikke som om det er det historien handler om, så kommer det til å bli tatt opp seinere eller om forfatteren synes det er ok å ha de tingene framstå som ok i en barnebok 🤔

I've never before disliked a book the way I do this. I have to keep myself from physically ripping it to pieced. I CANNOT BELIEVE this is being marketed as horror. Fuck this book. Why would you want to write something so violently boring? It's all "look at how unfair it was to be a woman in ye olde days haha crazy that they didnt all just commit suicide right? Haha all men are monsters and most women, too"

It's not really scary when you don't care for the pov character at all. Like if a ghost gobbled up the dad, i'd just hope they did it slowly so he'd get to really feel it

I cant believe how thick the protag is? Like shes the most stupid, naive, gullible person ever. Everyone in this book is an awful person, does the author want me to sympathise with anyone? The gardener boy is the only character that's even slightly bearable. I genuinely cannot believe how dim the protag is like GIRL get it together wtf?!

God this book is so gross and there's not a single fucking ghost. We didnt have to read about shit like this when the protags were men. I feel the opposite of empowered by this

I wish it didnt have to be about BEING A WOMAN, why can't it be about revenge without it all just being about the experience of being a woman? All movies and books and stories about women needs to always just be driven by them being women. The motivating force? The shit that needs revenging? The conflict? It's all always"women are being mistreated by men and the society and religion and it sucks for them like so bad"

God in the other books the men got to go climbing the himalaya and do arctic research and here it's oh youre a girl and you have to watch the men in your life abuse and demean all the other women in your life and everything's gory and disgusting and the men are basically devils and religion is smothering you and only about 4% of the focus is on the fen and bog shit and witches, no it's all about rape and hatin women

Why is it that every book that takes place before 1990 and includes a woman HAS to have sexism and violence against women and "every man thinks women are as smart as dogs and should be mistreated bc they're women" as central tropes? Like do ya'll enjoy reading about it? I think it fucking sucks and it's such a tired way of writing a horror story with a woman in it. Liken i came here for ghosts not systemic abuse FUCK

British people really think all other European accents sound like the German accent, huh. It's SO ANNOYING when the lady reading this reads the Icelandic couple with a poor German accent. It's not even how real Germans sound when they speak English, it's the "we're non-Germans doing a German accent haha how funny this accent's so ugly and harsh am i right??" accent and I hate it.
