It took me a while to get properly into my last SGJ book so I’m still hopeful for this one, but it’s not doing much for me right now

This is the same author who wrote The Buffalo Hunter Hunter? Veeerrrryyy different vibes.

Got possessed by the spirit of my 14 year old self…

FFS this was meant to be a guaranteed 4-stars or above 😭

I do not think I’m gonna like this 😬

Wait, I love Boomba 🥺

Ooo this writing style is distinctive!! I feel like I’ll either love this story or hate it, let’s see!

On a craft level, I appreciate how King drags a scene to make you feel growing tension and dread.

As a reader, I want to throttle him. Let the awful thing we’re all waiting for happen already!!!!!

Okay, so it wasnt just Anna Karenina—I don’t like Tolstoy ://

Making me feel SICK with dread — 5 stars?

If I loved myself, I would DNF this

Just saw the word ‘unalive’ in a published novel that I’d paid real actual money for

Finally remembered how to read

The protagonist of a Stephen King novel is an asshole father. Fork found in kitchen.

Okayyyy, kind of gagged me with ending of that one—NOT where I thought it was going!!

Mixed feelings about the first story! Enjoyed the writing and presentation, but not sure that mystery was hiding “in plain sight” (as advertised) or that I fully got what the ending was trying to do 😭

I hope Merricat poisons Charles

Circe and Telegonus are the best part of this book!

I don’t know! I don’t know! Is this good? I can’t tell!

I forgot how slow this story is. Miller’s characterisation of Circe is the most interesting bit, but plot and writing draaaaggggg 🫠

Madeline Miller, I did not miss your prose style, but welcome back, Queen

Maria Puder just entered my Top 5 Characters Ever. I am going to think about her forever ❤️

This is the slowest story I’ve read in a while, but it is beautifully written
