I think for me personally this chapter is the most powerful, interesting, and educating of them all (at least until now) I don’t know much about trans sexuality and especially not how people feel when they don’t feel right in their bodies. So the author did a very good job addressing this, furthermore the stylistic of how to address it are marvelous!!

Strong female person, single mother and workaholic. Even though her youth turned out the opposite of what she might imagined, she tried to continue. Losing the father at a young age is definitely hard, so I guess the attention from boys made the rest.

As a mother seeing her child change completely because of a society that seems to lack of respect and an open mind… But I think it’s the wrong attempt to choose the husband for the child even though it’s part of Nigerian tradition. And for here dream of a business to become true she had to do it with the pastor…. Sad times

This definitely crushed me and made me furious!! While reading I had this feeling of knowing what will happen next and that it actually did🤬 I’ll never understand how people (ok to be fair: men) can do this, how their motivations getting established…. And the work situation: disgusting and sad that (colored) women getting degraded for being a woman🥲

I feel sad for her for being imprisoned in this relationship and abandoning her extroverted self. But I like it that the toxic relationship is pictured as it doesn’t only exist with men, sadly with any kind of person it’s possible. The author captured these feelings in a very strong way I think!

As the daughter of Amma she’s got a different approach to societal norms. I can find many impressions in her views as well as in mine even though we belong to different social groups. Her experiences are shocking and relatable and educating. The friends and their stories would be interesting as well, I’m hoping they will get the platform as well.

Love Amma as a a character, she’s a strong female who decides for herself and no one else. The discovery of her sexuality and deciding to not be one more person so follow the “rules” of life for that time, admirable! But the beauty of motherhood catches her and she loves it. Also many people being introduced. Let’s see what comes next…
