The way Shonda challenges the standards of “motherhood” imposed on her by other mothers really rung true to me. I’m not a mother myself, but the same idea goes for any kind of role that anyone has. That they should define the role in their own way, what is fulfilling to them and what gives them the most meaning and satisfaction. Love his she does this with wit and lightheartedness.

Shonda describes her experiences of nerves and anxiety with such vivid detail, and I totally relate to how she sweats profusely and stumbles over her own words when someone is watching. However, I am getting lost in some of the details and what feel sort of like ramblings. I definitely feel like I can’t relate to her repeated admiration for Beyoncé…

I always thought introversion versus extroversion (and everything in between) was a modern concept from within my lifetime. However, the authors now diving into parallel concepts of shyness versus socialites from the times of the Industrial Revolution. It’s so relevant to how various media portrays the “ideal” personality today.

Witty, paranoid, anxious, and mundane. I’m loving it so far.
