I don’t know if I can finish this. Which is very frustrating because I love this author. She’s normally one I buy as soon as a new title is announced.

Normally I am a ride or die MH fan. The plot of this book is essentially INTENTIONAL miscommunication on Sienna’s part. In fact, this book wouldn’t have a plot without that miscommunication.

This book is written like a comic book. Short sentences. Massive plot holes.

There are no likeable characters so far. I’m sympathetic to Lorenzo because the guy is fucking clueless.

Krystal is a petty vindictive immature bitch.

I’m only going to finish it because I’m trapped by the car wreck.

I always knew Kir would be one of my favourite characters.

Do you like the miscommunication trope? You’ll love this book. This goes beyond miscommunication into an alternate dimension of miscommunication to an extent that I didn’t even know was possible.

I personally hate miscommunication tropes. I’m only torturing myself with this because I have two hands on full thumb/wrist braces. I’m angsty.

Did they have that important conversation?

No.

They had a spicy scene that contributed absolutely nothing to the plot. In fact, it’s fair to say that the scene DETRACTS from the plot since it prevents ACTUALLY FURTHERING THE PLOT. It’s filler. Infuriating filler.

ALMOST TWENTY PAGES and we don’t even find out what dragon fire reveals?!!!

I think another reviewer is spot on; she’s gotta be thinking of being paid per word.

This is like 10 pages of exposition without anything actually happening.

There’s zero real explanation for why Raeve refuses to remember her past. By this point in the story there needs to be more explanation for this.

She’s gone from a somewhat likeable character to increasingly insufferable.

The emotional running away of Raeve is getting extremely tiresome.

She has the emotional maturity of a toddler. Most of her internal turmoil could be summarised as
“I don’t wanna.”

I think the bones of the story are actually pretty good. The writing is too flowery and detailed but also lacking in actual detail.

I’m going to finish this.

So far this book is pretty amazing.

Man. She’s writing about pregnancy loss in a way only someone that has experienced it can.

It’s absolutely soul crushing to lose your child, then carry them knowing they are no longer alive, just waiting for your body to physically lose them.

Liv definitely writes a villainous MMC well. It’s difficult to find much that’s redeemable in Enosh. I suppose that’s the point really; he’s a bad man. She probably won’t make him good. She does seem to be making him want to be good to her.

I actually enjoyed Feathers so Vicious, but found the RH in a fated mates world infuriating.

I’m listening to the audiobook. Reading this book was a complete slog, and also required focus. The language is so grandiloquent that reading it requires a bit more focus. Listening to it while knitting has been more enjoyable.

Some books are just better heard than read, this is one of them. I’m picking up plot points better via listening.

I think Nero is my favorite character so far.

This is like reading a Wilkie Collins book but with far-far more sexual tension.

Is the professor bad? Is he truly attracted to Miss Foxboro, or is he manipulative?

Is Miss Foxboro crazy?

Why does everyone act like Miss Foxboro both requires protection, and want to drive her away?

The writing thus far is very moody and ethereal. It reminds me a lot of Wilkie Collins.

I always knew I read a lot. This reading challenge is showing me I read A LOT. My goal was 50 for the year and as of today I’ve read 29 since the first of the year. Some I’ve mentioned on here, some I haven’t mentioned because they aren’t worth mentioning.

Dude, these proofreaders and editors need to be blackballed from the industry. Or, if THIS is what it reads like after proofreaders and editing it must have been completely unintelligible.

This.book.doesn’t.make.sense.

There are missing words, the narrative switches between first person, peripheral, and central in the same chapter or even paragraph.

This book is confusing AF. I’m pretty sure there are multiple time jumps in the story so far, but there’s no actual narrative indicating that there are time jumps.
