The end of chapter 49 gave me chills. The musicians wearing mourning black & playing the songs of the people who the king enslaved & slaughtered is just so powerful.

Rowan’s reaction to her back & her story is so heartbreaking & sweet that it makes me want to cry. I hate that he has a blood oath to Maeve, though.

When will Chaol & Dorian be back on the same side? Also Manon better watch her back for those spiders.

Up until Alex got way too mean in his uncle’s office I was thinking “wait this is kind of good…” but now I’m so pissed at Alex. Especially because Ava gave him a chance to tell the truth and he didn’t. Don’t even want to finish it at this point.

I love Alex & Ava. When they got together at the 50% mark (and in a clearly communicated committed relationship no less), I wondered what would happen in the other half of the book.

Did not expect the secretly murderous, manipulative father. Wowee. What’s next? Alex gets his revenge, but Ava finds out? Hmm…

She just beat the hell out of Rowan for endangering Luca hell YES that’s my girl!!!

I love how protective he is. And I love how she sasses him. Not sure how I feel about the rest.

Celaena’s power is badass. I’m glad Chaol and Aedion are working together. And I’m also glad Dorian and Sorscha are working together, even if I have a bad feeling about their work to stifle his magic.

Also, I’m a fan of Manon choosing the underestimated mount.

I’m so glad Celaena told Chaol everything so he can be investigating in Rifthold. Sorscha and Dorian belong together. And I’m enjoying learning more about the witches through Manon.
